Thank you very much! I think you just did a marathon "Squarepeg Tommy" video watching! I really appreciate your kind comments and watching my videos.
@jarmstrong28434 жыл бұрын
@@squarepegtommy7670 Well, I did have a "Squarepeg Tommy" marathon watching your videos as well as other well known turners on KZbin. Since the weather is so hot where I live, the temperatures in my garage frequently exceed 108 degrees. That's too hot for me to do anything and I suffered dehydration about 2-3 weeks ago and taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion while turning some wood. Now I am relegated to the easy chair and watch the true artists at work. I will begin turning firewood again when it turns cooler.
@Mikes67Chevy5 жыл бұрын
Mesmerizing to watch! Not being much of a craftsman, I can still recognize and appreciate every detail down to the level of safety I can see while cutting and wood turning. This truly looks like 90% prep, 10% finish, like a beautiful paint job. All the thought process and execution into cutting all the angles and laminating them together with specialty clamps, 🤯
@squarepegtommy76705 жыл бұрын
I started it Nov. 25th. It actually takes more time to wait for glue to dry than cutting and assembly. That being said, around 4 hours working time cutting, gluing, clamping, and lathe turning. The lathe part is really the fastest part, around 40 minutes. Waiting for finish to dry takes weeks, it's cold up here and it dries really slow. Planning takes considerable time but the good Lord takes care of most of that.

Thank you for your kind comments. I taught Autocad on the computer so using the design program is natural for me. I usually sit down and design for an hour or two before even choosing a piece of wood. The cutting and gluing can take 2-3 days before it makes it to the lathe. However, the passion for woodworking and the insight of design does not come from me! The Lord gets all the credit in that department.

Dear Tom, Your work is more than beautifull. I would like to give this a try myself. Where or how, do you make or find the designs and how to make the gleu ups? I’m a carpenter in the netherlands and totally understand what you are doing, but how to design and determine in wich way to do a gleu up is something i can’t figure out myself at this time. Maybe you can help me in the right direction. I would love to design a bowl also instead of only copying Thanks in advance
@squarepegtommy76704 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking and watching. The Lord has richly bless me with the ability to see patterns in everything. I simply put down on paper what I see. The real trick is determining how to glue thing together to get the desired result. Again, the Lord has bless me with the ability to break down my patterns into their smallest parts and figure out how to glue and cut to get what I want. You could look on my "community" link on my main page where the plans for many of my projects are shown. It might help show how things are made. Good luck and please let me know how you are doing.
