Your T position depends on where your opponent is on the court and your body angle will allow you to cut off poor shots , with a good starting position and quick movement off the T you will be in a great position to attack.

The 45 degree waiting position would be helpful at an amateur level and was used at a pro level in the past when the game was slower. In today's game at a professional level, a cross court would not give you enough time to rotate your body as shown here and then do a good retrieval. I think Gaultier was a perfect example of someone with both feet parallel to the front wall, with open stance in the middle of the court.

I understand what you are saying, Gaultier had a very distinct movement that is unlike anyone else and it worked well for him. Generally watching the ball is a big issue for most and this helps greatly, you jump and split landing your feet in the best direction to take off anyway.

Than you for another very practical video. You really simplified the movements. Can’t wait to start ghosting on these patterns.

The shuffle change of direction will change your court coverage and take stress off your knees. You will start to float around the court.

Can confirm the 45 degree waiting position on the T makes a huge difference. I used to hate playing someone with a good boast, now i love it cause I’m so much faster getting to the ball with this small change.

It is easier to see the striker so you move earlier as well. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Can you make a video on how to defend against a cross court drive from the back, when you may be expecting a straight drive and you are on some kind of T position.
