Ramy Ashour is just amazing. His talent, skills, hard work and passion are what brought him to where he is today :)

Indeed. We need more full match videos. Full match videos put up on everything would ignite the sport. Squash is in my opinion the world's best sport and yet it is largely unheard of in the the west coast of the USA. We need more full match quality videos!

Did anyone catch what Ramy is saying at 1:12:54? The "P" is too... oily? Context: his string breaks at 1:11:03 so he changes the racket, then he goes back out at 1:12:28 but returns with the same one.
@mattwong76858 жыл бұрын
I couldn't catch it either. It's rather mysterious. The commentators thought that he left to change the racquet, but after watching it again, he doesn't actually switch racquets, so whatever he was complaining out (the P letter, or oiliness) ended up not being too big of a deal
@twizted84697 жыл бұрын
Ankur Dave he's sponsored by prince so he has to make sure the P is visible on the strings for TV

Don't agree with the No Let decision at 1:09:35. Gaultier should have been allowed to have a go at that drop from Ashour who was in the way as a result.

Pretty sure Ashour's first replacement was stencilled? It looked like he just put down his replacement and picked it up again trying to psyche Gaultier out? Thanks for the upload! (I know I'm very late to this party)

Yes you’re right. I noticed it on camera as well but the ref wouldn’t have seen it. If it was any other player it would be unforgivable gamesmanship and a conduct stroke. His excuse about the “p” is also not acceptable even if it was genuine. Thought Greg could have argued more on that but had too much respect for Ramy I think.

24:40 What the hell are the commentators even saying? The ball clearly did come well into the frame there. Ashour could've gotten it. It was a let.

This match was horrible. Both the BS from the mouth pieces and the bad refs. For instance Gaultier was not hitting the ball tightly in the second game allowing Ashour to pounce. The mouth pieces never picked up on it. The refs on the other hand should have awarded Gaultier the game when Ashour kneed Gaultier in the calf. Who cares if it was deliberate or not. What's next? An elbow to the throat? Then there were all the bad calls in favor of the Egyptian. Sure an Egyptian is practically funding everything to do with these squash tournaments. Still though a little more fairness won't scare the money away.

Even though this is an older comment, I think it deserves a response. Those "mouth pieces" are perhaps the most entertaining commentators in squash and are quite popular. Their commentary here was both astute and, at times, witty. They clearly have a pleasant rapport with each other. Regarding awarding an entire match to a player because of accidental contact created by the other player... I mean, this is simply not a rule and would be absurd to do. The contact *was* accidental and though initially severe, was not lasting. Gaultier was moving just fine within a minute afterwards. While rare, this kind of traffic does sometimes happen at this level. There are no points or games, much less matches awarded in these cases. And as for the reffing in general, I thought it was superlative. Each player had calls made against them. I didn't see any bias. And I didn't disagree with a single call (which is rare for me). If Ramy received slightly more "favorable" reffing, it's because he moved better and did not tire the way Gaultier did. Overall, a very entertaining and fair match.

@@johnrogstad1278 Well the talking heads are very good at times. I remember laughing many times. And using some of the expressions they came up with. However, when they started mixing women talking heads into the mix it became unbearable. Then mixing in woman coverage I quit watching squash. Go woke go broke. As far as what happened here it has been too long. I don't feel like rewatching. Apparently other people saw what I saw due to the other comment above. I suppose you just have to put up with exceptionally bad refs. And players that sometimes take advantage of it.
