That is the best explanation and the best demo of a split step I've ever seen! Thank you!

I once was watching Thiery at his best in a brutal match against Power. I cannot describe the beauty and poetry of his motion. If he'd been female I would have gotten on my knee and proposed! My favourite player of all time! It was a pleasure watching his rise to the top.

Wow. Not one person in my club moves as explosively as that.

So when you split step to move forward (not demonstrated) you move one foot back and the other one forward while leaning forward, and push off the back foot. Ja?

Hi Hunt, yes, we also have a full playlist here if you're interested with different videos breaking down specifics of the split step: squashskills.com/squash/-/movement-fundamentals-with-jethro-binns/introduction-to-movement-fundamentals-2576/

SquashSkills thanks for the link. The back foot drag is not taught widely so it's good too see you do that in your video. I might add that dragging the back foot also assists in braking your movement and slowing the momentum created by moving to the ball. This makes it easier to use your leading leg to reverse the direction back to the middle of the court. You allude to this braking action when you show the wear on your shoes in your video 😀

Guys he does not mention the most important part!! You have LAND AT THE MOMENT THE OPPONENT HITS THE BALL. Look at TENNIS videos on the split step - all way more professional.

If you land the moment the opponenet hits the ball, how do you know which way to split? Wouldn't this require guessing and risk gettinng taxi'd?
