I hope when you get to the hood that you can discuss repair/replacement of the heat shield on the inside of the hood. They always seem to be burned through/rusted out from the heat of the exhaust. Thanks These series of videos on the Prep H, the Cat, the MM are so interesting and well done. They are a great teaching tool for any restorer or FFA project. Also more thanks for the quality narration, knowledge, editing, quality and care of the various projects.

Regarding torque wrench settings, applied torque and technique. There was an interesting KZbin clip by John Cadogan about hand placement on the torque wrench & how it affects the applied torque to the nut or bolt. I had an issue with snapping head bolts off at final torque & I now know this as because I had my hand positioned slightly up the torque wrench handle & not completely on the knurled handle section where it should have been.

Evergreen Restoration has awesome guages I have purchased a bunch of them for customers when I am repairing their vintage tractors and their prices are not bad either compared to the oem especially John Deere parts I paid more for a John Deere 720 diesel oil pressure Guage 20 years ago at the John Deere dealership then Evergreen Restoration charged me last winter. Keep up the great videos the red paint is looking good 👍 😊

Hello from Australia, The Nylock nuts for the lower radiator mount ... it's always best to have 2-3 threads sticking out past the nylon clamp ring. Sitting flush means the nut isn't doing 100% of its job. It's always satisfying to see new shiny stuff assembled better than factory. Keep it going !

I always enjoy watching you assemble the parts after working so hard on them, like watching your vision come together after days, months of toil...keep up the good work and excellent KZbin presentations, Squatch. One of the perks of working at CAT was getting to visit other facilities (the jobs were very compartmentalized). I could imagine this tractor you're assembling going down the assembly line when it was new and each part being added as it went, and at CAT your talking huge assemblies. At their final assemble plant moving them was literally a breeze, they floated them on air and one worker would walk the assembled machine from on work area to the next on a cushion of air, and seeing a D11 floating was amazing. That was back in the 1990's, by today, perhaps, they just "beam" them from one area to the next, who knows, lol.

Do you have any secret tips on how to keep your air cleaner oil from seeping out it can be a real pain sometimes especially if you are going down the road it can take those little drips to mysterious places and I start to wonder where it is coming from and sure enough it’s coming from the air cleaner.😀🇨🇦and I almost forgot you were 100 % right the front wheel weights really look sharp on the old girl!

Good afternoon, I work at the BNSF shop up in Brainerd, and just a painting tip, that you may already know, our guys here, instead of using a lot of tape and paper, use aluminum foil for certain things, it’s quick and forms nicely around certain parts, also on some things, they brush on grease lightly, then wipe it off after it cures, just a little info may help someone, keep up the good work👍

I despise thise oil bath air cleaners. I realize they are a tried and true design. Been around a long time. But, I never knew exactly how to do anything but change the oil in them. On a tractor the gets in some seriously dirty conditions. You can see sticks, trash of all kinds that has gotten stuck up in that wire mesh. Just always bothered me. That i never could be certain. The thing was clean whenever i serviced one.

Toby, fantastic work on the paint detail for each item! However, I/H wouldnt paint each item individually would they? It would have been preassembled and then painted as a whole would you agree? This would of course leave hidden areas unpainted or with slight overspray. Depending on your interpretation of a restoration, the paint process may have been applied differently. Not sure if you had visited this matter with your viewership before, but i for one would have done it just the way you have. Thank you.

@@erik_dk842 They did copy or use lot of old IH patents. Definitely engineering ideas have been used that IH invented first. But also modified lot of the existing things so they would suit the needs of different markets. If side by side IH and Belarus are just two different machines. They don't have any parts you can interchange.
