“A RED SHED Production” WOW! Those fellows made it look easy, concrete finish looks out of this world! Some things turn out better than other just by luck. I think you hit a home run with the Red Shed, the placement on the property, the size, the color and the way it is situated. Not to say you did have a whole lot of thought and work involved but the stars also lined up for you. Well worth the long, long wait!

You have been fortunate to get what is obviously quality construction companies to do the work. @@williamschmiedel6890 yes, you have to drive the truck over sometimes but, then you pick it up and put a chair in place. Did you see any chute extensions in use? I WISH i had those guy's. I had a jerk that made a first-class mess of a pad for my 24X24 garage which i had later moved from another property, when the pad was finished. It was then i discovered how unlevel the pad was! To top it off i had bid on concrete at a charity auction and i had given the jerk the slip for it. Now i think he just pocketed it and charged me full cost anyways for all the concrete. Lots more to this story that i won't bother typing out. Thing that really burned me that dolt had full payment the same day the concrete was poured. Few years back now but what do you do, try and sue, jackhammer it all up? CONGRATULATIONS SQUATCH, IT LOOKS LIKE THESE GUYS DID A GREAT JOB. I should add that my brother did a 24X26 pad PLUS built the garage for my Dad many years ago, perfect job and not one hairline crack in the cement years later. He wasn't in the business any more or i would have had him do my pad. We live in Canada where it gets down to Minus 30-40 degrees too in winter. My Dad has passed on though, lived to 100 on his own almost until the end.

Not to sound critical, but really surprised that you didn't have a thick base of gravel put down before pouring the concrete. 🤔🤔 My friend in northern WI had a shop floor done the same way you did (plastic vapor barrier & rebar) without the gravel base. Just poured right on the dirt. A year or so later, the concrete has several cracks. Yes it has the expansion cuts in the floor. Same soil as you appear to have. When I did my 30' x 50' garage back in 2002, they said you always want a gravel base as thick as the slab. My slab is also 6" thick with the 6" gravel base, vapor barrier, wire mesh & expansion cuts every 10'. Twenty two years later there isn't one crack in the concrete ! Your floor looks good. I sure hope you aren't haunted by a cracked floor from omitting the thick gravel base, like my friend's shop is.
@squatch253
@squatch253 Ай бұрын
This does have a gravel base, put in place 2 years ago when building materials were so high that I decided to hold off on the build. It was able to set up so hard in that time that they nearly had to chop through it with a pick axe when they dug out the footing - but the reason you couldn’t see it is because the build crew’s surplus material that was left from back-filling the post holes got thinly spread across the top, leaving only a few areas of the gravel visible. I also excavated and installed a French drain next to the gravel pad to control the ground water content for added insurance. All of this can be seen in the prior episodes of this build series here found in the “Field Land Clearing Project” playlist 👍
@auburnfolsom
@auburnfolsom Ай бұрын
@@squatch253 great Toby ! I wouldn't have thought you'd have cut corners & left the base out, but one never knows ? I must have missed that episode. Glad to hear it has the gravel base. I'd hate to see it cracking like my friend's floor did. We tried to tell him his needed the gravel base, but his concrete crew talked him out of it. Now he's paying the price with a cracked floor.. It should be a fantastic storage building with plenty of room for your equipment. Always enjoy your videos.
