Great pattern and cute fabric! I will definitely be making it. My suggestion for this type of work is to get a pack of corsage/hat pins, they work well for fleece and thick batting like this.

Hello. I am finally watching this on my laptop as I usually watch it on my TV so I cannot comment. I love your KZbins! I lost my last 2 piggies last year and I am now without any pets. Getting ready to retire so may not get any more but I absolutely love watching you and your furry babies! I wish I knew about you when I had my piggies!!! Especially how to make these!!! I made my piggy some but a pattern would have been wonderful! Thanks for all you do!!! Especially on teaching all of us the many things guinea pig "slaves" need to know about these amazing little critters. :) I just love piggies!!!

Those flat beds - those are what I use to transport my GP’s. I lay it down beside their cage, pick them up and over the C@C cage rungs, set them in their pet bed, and then carry the pet bed. I do it in reverse when I’m putting them back into their cage. It’s far safer than to do that than it is to carry them in your bare hands. Those little things have amazing methods of squirming out of your hands, and little kids (which I don’t personally have any) won’t be able to hang onto them. But using their bed for transport they’re never in your bare hands more than a few inches off the ground.

Although finding that thick of wadding (or batting as we call it here) in the US has been difficult, so I've been having to double or tripple up the thinner stuff, fighting it the whole way.

I am so glad you added another pattern, I have the other three you made. Wondering for this pattern if I could just sew the fleece pieces onto the batting all around before attaching to the other fleece piece so that it doesn't flop around? Thanks again!

Posting in several areas, as I don't know if you'll see this, but my pig suddenly stopped being able to eat his veggie treats and also his favorite Timothy hay heads. He mainly prefers his pellets now. I've done a bit of research and found that their teeth can grow over and occlude the tongue. He really wanted his treats but just couldn't eat them, so we tried chopping his veggies very small, and he immediately was eager and able to eat them. Have you ever seen this? I've read that the vet may have to put them under and file the teeth down (hundreds or $1000 in my area). Someone mentioned even havinf to put the lig down! He's my friend and buddy, five years old, and otherwise is good health. Your thoughts please?

I am having a problem with my piggies, Oreo keeps mounting and chasing Chocolate into the hidey and if Chocolate trys to come out Oreo nudges,mounts,and chases her. Oreo will not stop and i had to seperate them.😢 Any ideas?

Yay! I’m in the middle of making a matching set of all of your patterns for my two boys, so this couldn’t be more perfect timing! Quick question on making fitted absorbent liners for your patterns: Would I cut the fabric pieces to the size of the base piece and maybe use a slightly larger seam allowance? Or is there an easier method for proper sizing?
@SqueakDreams10 ай бұрын
That's lovely, thank you very much! 🤩 Yes I use the base pieces for making waterproof fleece pads, they can be too big by a smidge, but they are no good if they are too small - so just use your normal seam allowance 😊

I'm a new guinea pig owner and recently bought something similar to this.. as soon as I put it in the guniea pig cage one of them will wee straight in it and then will just lay in it. So will it need washing daily? Any advice? Xx

hiiii I have piggies and I was just wondering is it better to keep them indoors or outdoors during winter?
@Gioza8510 ай бұрын
Pick one or the other and stick with it as the change in temperature can badly shock them. Their fur will grow appropriately for the environment. So if they are already living outdoors then leave them, as long as the area is sheltered from wind and damp they will be fine. Bringing them in could cause them to over heat

Does anyone know if I could make this with the base piece being a piece of 3/4 inch upholstery foam? I don’t have enough batting for the whole bed but I have some extra upholstery foam. My issue would be idk how to sew it since I doubt my singer sewing machine would be able to get though the foam so I’d assume I’d need to create a pocket or something but idk how to do that or how to secure the foam. I’m probably better off just buying more batting😂
@piggiefloofs939810 ай бұрын
how do these hold up in the wash with all 3 layers not being fully sewn to each other all the way throughout? also thanks for specifying weights of the wadding - super helpful (i always give up on my cozy projects before i start as i never know what thickness to get etc or where to buy it from apart from dunelm which tends to be more expensive)
@SqueakDreams10 ай бұрын
They are fine in the wash, I even pull them apart when I feel they need a proper thorough wash ☺️, just dry them outside or on the radiator and reshape the bed at some point as it dries. The 14oz is very sturdy and the bed will keep its shape well. You'll see I used less thick wadding for the base/back, just because it is easier to sew and these bits aren't as important for it's structure. eBay is a great place to get wadding at various thicknesses, straight off the roll, half metre of 14oz and half metre of 8/9oz will be more than enough 😃

@@SqueakDreams thanks 😊 , i'll def check ebay out next time (i'll add this to my growing list of projects i plan but never get round to doing! haha )

Hi- if I buy a standard sewing machine like a brother basic one will it cope with the thickness or do I need to hold out until I can get a better machine? Thanks!
@SqueakDreams8 ай бұрын
Mine is a Janome J3 24 which I think is pretty basic, verging on mid range, it is 10 years old and still going strong! I would research and read reviews where you can, but I think a basic one should be fine ☺️
