Years ago I adopted a piggie who refused to be caged. His first night he escaped and I found him lounging on my sofa! After a few weeks of trying to keep him in I gave up and he was fully free range. After a while I noticed he was pooping in the same spot so I got him a cat litter tray that he'd use. He was hilarious. He knew the food was in the fridge and would stand by it yelling until I fed him! Every morning he'd appear next to my bed yelling until I picked him up and had cuddles in bed. I miss him dearly, he was truly unique. Rip Lord Reginald!

It's illegal in some countries to own only one guinea pig. They are such social animals that's its cruel to keep only one. ( I'm sure you didn't know, I didn't until a year ago.)

I am 66 yrs old now. I had a small herd of piggies when I was a teen. They had free range of the fenced back yard when the weather was mild. When the piggies heard me get home from school and heard the gate open, they would RUN to me weeking an enthusiastic welcome, a sweet little stampede of love! I would sit in the grass and they would climb on me. I LOVED it!

I’m 64 now but still remember the joy our Guinea pigs gave us when I was about 11.My brother had a Black and Tan male called William,we adored him as did our mongrel dog called Emma who was of similar colours and treated him like her puppy,regularly cleaning him by licking and gently chewing off the stuck bits in his fur whilst clasping him between her two front legs. Tragedy struck one day when William went missing from the garden,we hunted high and low for him all over the fields we lived near.I was out with Emma as a search party when suddenly,about half a mile from the garden,I heard William screeching and squeaking in delight the way they do and Emma barking with her tail going 19 to the dozen staring at a pile of wood where dear old William was. Much sniffing and snorting in delight and the feeding of the prodigal son later back in his cage followed. Good old Emma,she was a Heinz 57 costing a £1 from the local dogs home back in 1969 when she was eight weeks old and made up of God knows what but she was the kindest,caring and tolerant dog I have ever come across.Happy to be pushed around in my dolls pram complete with hat and blanket. And she only cost us a £1 from the local dogs home when she was eight weeks old but was worth every penny.We had her when I was 7 and she died when she was 17,still miss her.

I once had a constantly free roaming piggie called Henni. He learnt how to climb out of his enclosure and would greet me at the front door when I returned home. 1st it gave me quite a shock for I feared he would run away and I’m not able to get him back into my flat. Eventually I realised that he never ran out but just came to greet me and then would run back inside. He once slept in my palm when my hand had slipped from the bed to the floor. Miss him like crash after all those years. ☺️☺️☺️

One of my guinea pigs passed away recently and he was never in a cage. He always had the house to his disposal because I hated keeping him in a cage and it was always a pleasant surprise whenever he would just waltz into your room. I miss getting upset at him for chewing on stuff he wasn't supposed too and this video made me realize to never take them for granted, you'll remember how much they were a daily part of your life and for you to suddenly realize that they're gone forever...well it'll really hit you hard.

My guinnea pig lived for his whole life without a cage in my parents house as I was a kid. He was just the best : waited at the door, when he heard us coming home and welcomed us loudly, was sitting with us on the couch and followed us everywhere we go. He was like a little dog oh and he always pooped in his box he still had but without any cages. The whole apartment was clean. Still miss him every day, though I was 11 when I got him and today I am 30 years old. R. I. P. Snoopy ❤️

When I had guinea pigs, I kept their cage open during the day pretty much all the time. They would hop in and out of their cage and they never seemed to poop or pee outside of their cage. The only time I ever closed their cage was at night or if I wasn't home to supervise them. I just felt bad leaving them in their cage especially during winter when they could not go outside.

Thanks for sharing! Currently mourning the passing of DJ, my incredibly intelligent (& naughty🙂) rattie bear. Smiles & laughter have not been frequent so it was nice to experience those again whilst watching your little guys. Free roaming had always been a dream of mine until I was finally able to secure a place that could be rat proofed. Having experienced both enclosure vs freedom (in my experience at leas,) the increased contentment, curiosity & bonding to people was quite noticeable. Thank you for taking good care of your little guys & providing them with a wonderful life--that also is currently making me smile. : ) All my best to you all, take care! -L

Awwww, look at that wee piggie who stayed home! My sister once bought a cat bed for her piggie, who she accidentally left out, lounging in his bed one time, while we went to the shops. When we came home and realised what she had done, we watched the CCTV camera she had next to his cage and all fell about laughing, watching him climb back into his cage for a wee and a poo, then climbing back out to get back in his comfy bed. He did this three times, while we were out (it was a big shop, for food for the week and also a BBQ we were hosting on the weekend.)

he’s scared, that could mean a few things: you don’t let him out enough so he’s not in his comfort zone, he’s in an area he doesn’t feel safe, or both. slowly introduce him to new areas and he might feel more comfortable that way. also, the more you get him out of his cage/pen, the more comfortable he will start to become.

Somebody You don't know no - it is absolutely required. You need 2 rabbits, or 2 guinea pigs. In the UK it is considered serious animal cruelty to keep them alone and you are not even allowed to rescue 1 single one, you have to take a pair.
@TheLadyRivendell
@TheLadyRivendell 4 жыл бұрын
Somebody You don't know that is absolutely false!!! They don’t care the relationship with you since you are a total different species and they can’t communicate with you. It’s like you would have to spend the whole life with a monkey or a bear without any social contact with your species! Don’t humanize animals by trying to adopt your thoughts and values on animals. We misinterpret a lot of animals’ behavior. Guinea pigs hate to cuddle, but since when you get them onto your arm and they don’t move and do “nice calm” sounds we think that it actually likes it, but it is the COMPLETE opposite! In a lot of countries it’s already forbidden to sell social animals alone or to hold them alone and it’s under restrict punishment if you torture animals this way!!!!

I brought one of my Guinea pigs to one of my zoom meetings and she loved it! I gave her many treats. Btw I love your channel, it’s my favorite channel on KZbin! 😊

Aww the ending with the piggies squeaking as soon as they saw your boyfriend was wholesome! Such a cute video!

Most wholesome video ever, it's over 10 years since we lost our last piggy, she made it to 7, 3 years longer than the others. She was a tough old piggy. I never got over not being there at the end for the first two, the second died when we were on holiday half my lifetime ago and im still not over it 😢 this video has made me so happy, some of your piggies look like ours did 🥲

Ahhhhh my biggest fear would be that they'd get stuck in some nook and I wouldn't be able to get them out

It's important to get a new piggy as soon as possible for him, otherwise he will become depressed.
