Great job! Great information and video! Going to try it on a Trike!

I just bought a Lectric Xpedition. I tried the advice offered on Lectric's webpage of cleaning the rotors with alcohol, but that didn't help. Then I tried every kind of brake pad, I.E. Metal, semi-metal, ceramic, and organ resin. They didn't make a difference. So I shined some light through the calipers and saw a lot of empty space on the side of the rotors facing the axle. When I squeezed the brakes, only the caliper on the axle side of the brake assembly moved. So I loosened the two bolts on top that are positioned vertically which allow you to reposition the calipers along the same axis as the axle. I positioned the calipers as far away from the hub as they would go and locked them down. There was still no daylight to be seen between the outer caliper and the rotor, but the gap between the inner caliper and the rotor was much less. After doing this, the brakes went from very loud and annoying to completely silent. Also, I can detect no rubbing when the brakes are not engaged so it seems to have worked perfectly.

Nice good to hear that

I will definitely be doing this. Just have to make sure I order the correct pads.

That's the key -- each model of bike potentially uses a different type of pad

I had to replace my rear pads on my XP 3.0. I believe it is a common complaint on Lectric bikes. For some reason their bikes come with oil on the disc. I still love my Lectric bike🎉🎉🎉

Nice work Chris. Looks like a straigh foward job, not too difficult to DIY. Did you use the new spring that came with the brake pads?

Thx yes I used the new spring, was easier than I thought

I see you remove the calipers from the rotor. Other videos I’ve watched leave them on and just pull and replace the pads. Is there an advantage to either way?

Just easier I guess, first time trying this

Will these work on the xp 3.0?
@ChrisCrossed2 ай бұрын
The 3.0 has a different placement for the pin so be sure to get that style. Look at your current setup to see if the pin hole is in the middle of the pad.

The xp 3.0 *might* also use a different style of pad. It seems like several Lectric models use one of like 4 different style of pad. I would start by checking Lectric's website where they sell replacement pads, and see what style they recommend for that model. There should also be a picture of them for reference. As well, you can also just remove your current pads and take a photo of their shape. Each different type of pad has a different shape to it. Once you know the style of pad, then you can shop elsewhere for other brands if you like.
