Great video, Shaun! I talked to a guy that owned the Brammo one, and he loved it. It made me want one. As usual, I see a lot of anti-electric comments from people who've never owned or ridden one. Well I have, and they're awesome. I love my FJR1300, but the low-down torque doesn't even begin to compare to my old Energica, and the FJR has 100 ft/lbs of torque. I get that people love their gas bikes, hey, I do too! But you can't hate on someone's dream ride if you claim to love motorcycling, because motorcycling is about freedom of choice. I like a quick sport-tourer or adventure bike and will probably never be in the market for a track bike or a two-stroke dirt bike, but you don't see me bashing those bikes in comment threads. I love that people are having so much fun with them, even if it's a type of bike that doesn't interest me, personally. When people who claim to love motorcycles can't stop criticizing other riders, it brings us all down.

So I worked at Trail Tech in Battle Ground WA which was a subsidiary of Polaris. We built the gauges. We had three of these in the lot. I rode them several times. I was not wild over them. Why couldn't you work on this? Tons of people, myself included, build and work on electric bikes (and cars). Not knocking the zero, it’s cool, but the Empulse is way more of a classic motorcycle experience than the zero. The Zero is cool, but it’s much more akin to a twist and go scooter. -and after I posted this, he said all the same crap lol. Oh well. I guess I just confirmed it.

I'm with you on the gearbox. I don't understand why nobody wants to put gears on electric motorcycles. It seems logical to me that if you use gears to keep the motor speed down, you will get much more range. Maybe someone can explain why that doesn't click with these manufacturers. I was really interested in the CSC RX-1E, but when I looked into insurance for it, they wanted to charge me $900 a year. That's insane. So many of these electric motorcycle manufacturers seem to be targeting city commuting rather than any kind of highway riding. Without gears to slow down the motor at highway speeds, you're just burning away the charge. It doesn't make sense.

It's a gorgeous looking E Moto IMHO. The only other one that comes close is the Zero FX. I like the idea of a gearbox on the bike. Low gears for improving the torque, with the higher gears for conserving the battery. It makes perfect engineering sense.

We had a Brammo demo bike we were holding for Best buy for when someone wanted to test ride one. Pile of crap, this one was more a moped size and style, had little range and it kept having problems. Best part is when it had another problem, A tech from Brammo had to drive from Oregon to Mountain View California to fix it. I rode it, went a couple miles and it was almost too weak to make it back, it wasn't charging, they fixed that, then when the sidestand went up, the bike would shut off. They fixed that. By that time I was wishing the pile of crap would just go away and stop taking space on our sales floor, after all, we were asked to do this as a favor. I doubt anyone outside of shop employees ever looked at it.

When Cleetus put Leroy in the wind tunnel without the new body it showed he was using around 800hp just to maintain speed on the big end. Granted Leroy is shaped like a brick without it's body on and will have a whole lot more drag than a motorcycle. But I could still see 20mph or more lost vs the dyno test. Would be interesting to see gps speed, for no other reason than curiosity.

EVs due worse on the highway due to the motor being wound out. Give it a transmission that can drop the motor rpm while holding speed and watch the range sky rocket.

Just like cars, an electric car has its specific need and use... but they are not for everyone. The main reason the government wants us using electric vehicles is because they can control and regulate the electric companies. An electric motor is similar to a gas engine, the faster the motor spins, the more electricity it uses. I think a DCT or something similar would be better for speed and range. Everyone made fun of the Honda when they announced the DCT for its Africa Twin and Goldwing. The Goldwing DCT outsells the manual gearbox version two-to-one.

I rode a Brammo Empulse R early this year. I was actually quite impressed by it but, just like this very similar Polaris rehash, it has a quite underdeveloped drivetrain. The play is rediculous, feeling like you ride an ICE with bad real wheel cushdampers. Real world range is more like 90 km/h / 50 miles. The one I rode clearly had a mechanical problem (clutch, clutch master cylinder or even the gearbox itself) so I didn’t buy it. 3 weeks ago I bought an Energica Esseesse9 which is completely in another class. But with its relatively low power and gearbox the Brammo was actually more my thing. What, among other things, made the Energica affordable? It is now also in trouble! Motorcyclist are just too conservative.

Well, do you really NEED much more power? Harley's on paper have loads of power, yet even a modest European or Asian bike will wipe the floor with it. 50 Horsepower is more than enough for commuting, especially with the gearbox this Victory has. The only thing that's holding it back is the lack of range: enough for modest distance commuting, but not much else.

The problem bikes like this face when they go electric is aerodynamics of a bike is ... rough... and you can only put so much battery in them and they tend to not be able to charge fast either I believe. So if you plan on doing anything other than short rides you are out of luck. The most interesting electric 2 wheeler right now to me is the Stark Varg, but that does not really count, its a 122 kg motocross bike, not road legal and purely intended for sick jumps and powerslides on track, or you can take it on enduro rides. It has 60 or 80 hp and its a real monster or a bike with adjustable power settings so you can race gas bikes without leaving them for dead completely. I think electric bikes will be a thing, but for now atleast for anything going motorway speeds and longer distance, we are not there yet. But with the battery tech that is in the pipeline I think it wont be all too long, give it a few more years.

Thanks for the review on a great bike for its age. However I have to comment on your BLUETTI statements, since I feel its important for consumers to have realistic expectations on the power available from these types of devices. The idea of charging an electric motorcycle with a device whose total capacity is around 4000 wh not realistic as the pack on the Victory is 10400 wh, or more than 2.5 times the size of the BLUETTI. Is it a great device to bring along on a trip where you have a van to haul it and then using it to charge phones, cameras etc. or microwave some food? Absolutely, but for charging an Emotorcycle you will likely be disappointed in the results.
