I felt emotional, I've never seen Paul Carrack so young. He formed another band later called Mike+ Mechanics and their song " Over My shoulder" is one of my mother's most played songs, it was released in 1995. The song is so beautiful very 70's thanks for reacting to unknown gems Rory👍👌🔥

I do not know why I never bothered to pay more attention to Squeeze.

*Rory.* Thanks 😊 Squeeze are terrific. This is one of their best songs, to be sure. Glenn Tilbrook was usually the lead singer. But Paul Carrack sings lead here. (Glenn sings the first part of the second verse.) Paul joined Squeeze after Jools Holland left the band. Other tunes you might know from them: Black Coffee in Bed, Take Me I'm Yours, Pulling Mussels from the Shell, Is That Love, Goodbye Girl... That little sequence you referenced that sounds a bit like the beginning of the Tom's Diner melody - just a coincidence. They're a little different. But good ear! (And have you seen that Tom's Diner cover by annenmaykantereit?)

LOVE IT!!!!! I LOVE Squeeze - since I first heard Black Coffee in Bed. I have a few of their albums - but their greatest hits (Singles 45s and Under) is an essential album. I share a birthday with Glenn Tilbrook.. ;)

Thank you @lydellC !!! Paul Carrack wasn't in the band very long was he? I LOVE Squeeze - all their music. The first song I really loved from them was Black Coffee in Bed - I taped it with my tape recorder off MTV in 1982 or 83. I share a birthday with Glenn Tilbrook 8/31. Yeah Rory good ear. Coincidence w Tom's Diner but I see it now that you point it out. Black Coffee in Bed MUST be your next with this band!
