I use penn 4000 size reels and 10 to 12 lb test.. kind a medium freshwater , nothing fancy just need soft tip to feel bite...

You can catch squid in Narragansett Bay right now and are actually more prolific in the Winter just takes bigger balls to fish and catch in the Winter because of the cold! I have caught close to 100lbs of squid this Winter so far to freeze and I will eat some and give some to elderly relations and use some for bait come Spring and Summer!

Hate to be a bummer but throwing a live creature into another boat is not good luck but horrible torture to that animal, death should be quick and as painless as possible, show some respect to the sealife. shouldn't you throw back as many of the bigger females as you can? squids are not limitless.

This is Narragansett Bay been fishing it for 60 years don't know what he is talking about Spring Squid fishery? Squid are in the bay all Winter long what Spring? I fished and caught squid all Winter including Christmas to have fresh Calamari for Feast of 7 fishes! So I don't know what this guy is talking about a "Spring fishery"? you can catch squid right now at night 12/7/2024 Jamestown, Newport, from docks don't even need a boat! Fort Weatheral, State Park, The Ferry Dock Jamestown. Fort Adams State Park Newport, Dress warm!
