Tip for next time when it comes to the cooking part: slowly melt down some butter, then add freshly minced garlic and some finely chopped parsley. Throw the squid (or shrimp or crab or lobster) in there and crank the heat up a bit. Add some lemon juice and some white wine. Bring it back down to a simmer. Add a bit of the water used to cook and the pasta. Then add the pasta and toss it all together. Voila, you’re all done. Plate it and enjoy

Loved watching someone from another country catch squid. Here in Australia we (No one I know of) don't use weights. We use 4-5 inch weighted jigs and bounce near the bottom while retrieving. Our squid in Melbourne have a good that grows to over 16 inches. They are called southern calamari.

Just came across your video, awesome! Squid is a very sustainable fish and delicious. I like starting a saute pan with good olive oil, add some red pepper flake, garlic, squid, and lemon juice. Lastly I add the pasta into the pan and then on the plate. You get a nice coating of flavor over all the pasta.

How do you know where squid are like is there a specific type of area they like?
@livefreefishmore10085 жыл бұрын
Hey Jake, they pretty much fill all of salt water inlets close to the ocean during the warm summer months around here in Maine. Where I fish for them is very rocky and choppy along the bottom. I have not tried to fish for them on the beaches or any sandy bottom areas, but they might be there as well. When I go out to a new spot, I'll usually give it 30 minutes of fishing and if I don't get anything I'll try a different spot or come back at a different tide. Hope this helps!

One last suggestion not related to fishing. When pasta is almost ready, drain it and pour it in the pan with the squid. High flame and mix for maybe 10 seconds. The amid from the pasta makes the sauce stick to it!

If i were you, if you wanna have some fun with catching them, buy a 3wt fly rod. Fly rods are based off wt. 1-3weight is for small panfish, small bass, trout etc. A 12weight rod is for sharks, tarpon. I think youd have alot of fun using a 2 weight fly rod catching those. I live off the texas coast and i wish we had squid here just to do this lol. We have some but they are about 30miles offshore.
