As a Latina myself I love more latin representation but I hated this, not only do we already deal with machismo, misogyny, and abuse in our countries, but also Netflix comes and basically gives us a white man who is conservative for the male lead, which normalizes (more than it already is) this abusive cycle that many latina women go through. Also, this is personal but I disliked the fact that she also needs him for money, like we already have many stereotypes of being gold diggers. I'm so glad I found someone who didn't like "Purple Hearts" either. My friends scolded me for not liking it, but I couldn't help but find this movie so pretentious and forced. Especially the beginning, it was so hard for me to watch it to the end. It took me days to finish it. It all looks like a bad fanfic. It looks like they used every cliche possible to save this movie, but at least for me, it didn't work. The only good thing for me (because I got to learn more about it), as a brazilian, was the portrayal of the american healthcare system. Here in Brazil, we have a public health system called SUS, which helps many people, especially the poorest, because it offers free consultations, medicines and treatments. So it came as a shock to me to discover that in the United States things are quite different, in a bad way. Like, the price of penicillin?? I can't imagine the situation of those who need it but can't afford it :( P.S.: Just wanna say that I recently discovered your channel and I'm in love with your videos!

When i read what the movie was about i expected everyone to dislike it. I can't believe people are praising the modern version of ''Neo Ned''. Military propaganda and fake activism have nothing to do with 'accepting our ✨differences✨'.

Yeah, that night before deployment dinner scene was just confusing. Girl was the only one to call the guy out for toasting with a clearly racist comment, yet she was made out to be the one in the wrong. And him throwing a hissy fit and dismissing her was... okay? Hug and move on? No accountability.

im 14 and a type one diabetic and i was originally very excited to see sofia carson as a t1d since i grew up watching her on descendants but i could barely make it through half an hour before i had to stop. im arab and the "hunting down arabs" line was my final straw. im aware this is a bit of a generalization/throwaway line but tbh? it hurt. very disappointed & upset as i went into the movie happy for some diabetic representation only to be attacked by this movies anti arab sentiments. all of my diabetic friends feel the same as in the end the movie was not even a great representation of our experiences. there's more things i could say but i hate this movie and i don't wanna waste any more time on it lol. great video, thank you!

The most irritating part: A group of privileged white american kids 100% wrote this as a form of self projection, in hope of someone sympathizing with them.... Like this couple is actually an accurate representation of american self entitlement, bigotry, etc etc. The way they both had a family that could've helped them. The way their biggest struggle is learning how to manage their money so they can afford an adult life. The way they mellow dramatically try to make it seem like they are as oppressed as the ethnic group they were blatantly attacking, unprovoked.
