All the character's death was already foreshadowed in Episode 2. Ali is eliminated because sang-woo took his marble the same as he took his boss money. Deok-su jumped on the bridge and was eliminated in the game by falling off the bridge. Sae-byeok die because she was stabbed on her neck same as she threatened someone with a knife on their throat. Sang-woo almost commit suicide in the bathtub and was eliminated from the game by killing himself. Also, the old man died from a brain tumor. Gi-hun swore on his mother's life, and his mother died in the end.😇

He already was thinking about commiting suicide thinking he could save his mother from his debts (when he was in the room after the left the game the first time). He was never trying to be a hero or pretended. He was true to himself from the start. Unlike Gi-Hun the guy with the hero complex but zero actions to back it up.

We thought Sangwoo would betray Gi-hun but didn't expect he would kill himself... He is not that bad but definitely not good also. SangWoo can be anyone. Basically even after all the events that happened to them nobody changed. sang woo was ready to commit suicide in his room... ends up commiting suicide (to help his mother). Ali trusted his boss and was getting scammed. Trusted Sang woo and got killed. Gi hun was a gambler that was breaking his promises to his family. He still broke his promises to both his daughter and Sae-Byeok (take care of her brother and help her mother. he ends up just passing him up to a really old lady with a suitcase full of money). Sae-Byok tries not to trust people but trusts the trafficker then he loses/steals her money, in the game she doesn't trust others, develops a bond with Gi-Hun then he fails to save her. These people go through a terrible, life changing experience but they stay the same people.

He didnt even expect ji-hun would be back, look at his face after. They just made an alliance like that alone would me hate the guy. Let alone killing Ali when they guy really looked up to him(sir) and betting all his mothers wealth why would you do that like investments 101.

Sang Woo it was somewhat selfish yes, but it was not bad because like anyone, he managed to survive which is basically what the game was about. For me his character was interesting! :) sorry for my english..

I don’t agree that he was selfish because he wasn’t trying to win the money for himself he was as doing it for his mother because she was going to lose everything because of him and once he got out of the game he was going to prison anyway so even if he won the game he still loses in the long run. The money never was for him it was for his mother and he proves that in his final moments when he asks Gi-Hun to care for his mother.

운수 좋은 날 One lucky day is the title of a famous Korean novel. It's included in our middle school text book, so a lot of Koreans recognize it. It's about a wagon man (who gets paid for pulling his wagon to bring passengers). One day, he received more tips from many passengers. He was so glad. With that money, he was able to buy a bowl of ox soup that is his wife's favorite. But when he went home, his wife was dead of illness. And there's the famous saying "You bitch. You bad bitch. I brought this soup you like, but why can't you have any." Anyways, as a Korean man, I knew what was going to happen as soon as I saw the title of this episode.

The ending of the show shows that nothing can change rich people's morals and how oblivious they are, when ilnam and gihun bet on the homeless man, gihun is the one that still has faith in humanity and believes in good people, when someone indeed went to save that homeless guy, il nam is already dead so gihun could never change his mind or prove him wrong anyway

번역이 잘못 되었네요. 마지막에 난 말이 아니야. 사람이야 했을때 말을 horse 로 번역했네요. 여기서 말이 뜻하는 말은 장기, 체스 말처럼 도구로 사용되는 뜻인데.

I'm currently living in Korea and studying the language and I have to say that, its really more intense if you understand Korean. Even a little bit should do the trick of making every episode more emotional than it already is. The acting is great (not including the Americans tho), the scenes and shots of each scene are amazing and the idea of making such an odd yet really intense series is so fking good. I feel like Gi-Hun dyeing his hair red is a reference to the envelope game. He started with the blue envelope, but has progressed to far in the game and in life he came out on the other end, which is symbolized with the red envelope. Also, isn't it weird how nobody even commented on his hair? Maybe it's something Gi-Hun is imagining for himself that his hair is red. Carrying around the burden of knowledge he can't pass on to others. Maybe Gi-Hun did tell what he knew to the guy getting slapped at the train station, but who really knows?

Did you know there were a lot of clues to the old man being the mastermind? 1) 001 - speaks for itself 2) When the cop was looking through the files, the page starts on contestant 002, so there is no file on himself 3) In Red Light Green Light, there are multiple times you can pause and see that the old man has no color on him when the robot is scanning him. There's no way he could die from that game even if he moved. 4) Him yelling "STOP THE GAME IM SCARED" was the queue to stop the battle royal going on in the sleeping area when everyone was killing each other. He also stayed on the top bunk that didn't move so he would be safe the entire time. 5) There was an empty water bottle next to him when he "peed his pants." 6) That fake city in episode 6 really was his hometown layout. 7) In the marble game, the reason the crazy lady lived without having a partner was because the old man planned to have that person survive (he assumed he wouldn't be picked to have a partner). 8) Gi-Hyun offered to trade his umbrella pattern for the old man's star pattern in the sugar cookie game (and the old man denied the umbrella). 9) In episode 2, he was probably going to multiple people by "coincidence" and convincing them to come back to the game of their own free will.

This was another masterpiece of "The Korean Wave" of Cinema! I believe the success of this series is that people can relate to the themes and start to get vested in the characters. It shows the ugliness of what money, betrayal, poor decisions, selfishness, being naive, etc... of a person's psyche, that we would rather hide, but this movie showcases it with no mercy. Even would all the bad in the world, you can still chose to do something 'good' --- I would 'highly' recommend watching "Parasite", another Korean made movie, that just killed it and won every major award at the 2020 Oscars, including "Best Picture"

The episode's title, Lucky Day, is a short story written in colonial Korea in the 20th century. As a novel with the same status as America's 'The Great Gatsby', it is a must-read for middle and high school students so far, so it is a novel that all Koreans know. To summarize the plot, it is the story of the main character, Kim, who lives with his ill wife and makes money as a rickshaw driver. Then, one day, unlike usual, the number of customers does not stop and he earns a lot of money. So Kim decides to buy the meat soup that his sick wife wants to eat and go home early. But soon the long-distance passenger is caught and forced to return home late to earn more money. Uncertainty strikes Kim at the same time, who is happy with the sales, unlike usual. When he comes home from work, his wife is already dead, as Kim expected. In front of his dead wife, Mr. Kim cries out with the monologue line, "I bought you a meat soup you like, but why can't you eat it .. somehow, I was so lucky today", and the novel ends. In this novel, Mr. Kim is mean Ki-hoon of the squid game, and his deceased wife is Ki-hoon's mother.

The girl that got killed at the top 3 is propably not dead because they didn't say player eliminated The Game at the beginning with the blue and red thingy, if you choose red you become a guard, if blue,you're a contestant You don't hear a body falling when the old guy is "dead". I relate to your reactions so much🤣just like you, I wanted the old man to be safe from the moment I saw him, he just always broke my heart and I cried my eyes out when he "died" after the marbles game then when the twist of him being alive and behind it all was revealed, I was like " I cant talk, I need to process this" 😂😂😂 I normally scream at crazy twists like this but with this one, I was at a loss for words😂😂😂 I felt so betrayed like... With the tug of war thing, Il-nam actually didn’t have any locks on his cuffs like the other players had. If his team lost he could easily escape the cuffs and not fall to his death

this isn't true, pretty sure he's locked in after watching several times. also think the redlight green light doll was actually scanning him(not protecting him like the other videos said)WHY WOULD HE CHEAT IF FAIRNESS IS THE #1 concept of the place?? he legit plays the games cause he has nothing to lose with the tumor in his head. i think his "Safe word" was saying his name. that was the "ok I'm done, get me out of here, Frontmane " near the end... kinda like when Frontman ended the riot as soon as he saw his boss/the host burning up with fever and shouting with fear.. he wouldn't cheat. imho

@@mcm4point2o yeah that’s true. It weird though because in the beginning of tug of war he gets locked up but when they are laying down after winning, he is the only one without visible locks. They could just be under his wrists or he might only want a fair game for the players playing for money. We don’t really know for sure, so let’s just hope for a second season that could maybe explain a bit more into that.

a list of foreshadowing regarding Oh Il Nam 1) in the first episode, it is clear that he doesn't belong amongst the other players. he is much older than them as the average age of most of the players is around 20-40 y/o 2) during Red Light, Green Light, you can see that when the doll scans for movement, Il Nam's outline is faded as well as the people closest to him. this is because the doll is programmed not to target him and there is a protective ring around him to protect him from collateral damage if people around him die 3) the fighting in the sleeping quarters immediately ends as soon as Il Nam tells the Front Man to end it. furthermore, he manages to climb up on top of multiple stacks of beds, which would be impossible for him to do without assistance 4) during Tug-of-War, it would be odd for him to choose that game because of his age, until you realize that he must have played it a lot and has winning strategies for his team to utilize 5) during the selection process of the Marble Game, he makes no effort to find a partner. this is because he is supposed to be the odd one out in this round and be "eliminated" before the next game, Glass Stepping Stones. because Glass Stepping Stones relies entirely on balance and sheer luck, it would've been extremely dangerous for him to play. it is also why the annoying woman didn't die after being the odd one out, she was not meant to be the odd one out 6) it feels odd for the game designers to somehow manage to perfectly recreate Il Nam's childhood neighbourhood until you consider the fact that he was most likely supposed to watch on the sidelines and reminisce about his childhood before he dies from his brain tumour 7) there is also a theory that Il Nam could be Gi-Hun's father. this boils down to how his number is 001 while Gi-Hun's is 456. Gi-Hun quite literally had to fight his way to the 001 spot before he could inherit his supposed father's money. also, by leaving his daughter to help take down the Squid Game, this could potentially parallel Il Nam leaving Gi-Hun as a little kid to start up the Squid Game. finally, when Gi-Hun asks for chocolate milk because of his lactose intolerance, Il Nam makes a very strange comment about knowing Gi-Hun got beat as a child. his reasoning? because he did the same thing to his own kid. feels very odd for him to make that connection/assumption unless it was a slip from Il Nam

I identified with Sang Woo the most from the beginning. He played to win. After I finished watching the series, I saw all the names he was called. I had a small personal crisis. I’m waiting for my therapist to watch the whole thing to really discuss it. My Life is in The Game of Squid.

Sangwoo was never the villain. He was just another player doing what he needed to survive. These people were put in a situation where only one would come out alive, his seeking to be that person doesn't make him a villain. Was I happy with all his attitudes? No. But I understand why he did the things he did. If there is a second season, I believe that Junho is alive, the body was not shown, so this possibility exists.

The front man felt angry like Ki hoon when he won the game. And he came to meet the old man Il nam and did the same gamble. At that time , there was no one to help the homeless. Then he moved away from humanity.
