The room where the police guy visited to look for clues to find his brother is called "고시원 (go-shi-won)." It is not really designed for long-term living. The size of the space is just enough to fit a twin-size bed, a desk, a wardrobe, and a shower/toilet booth. It is usually rented to people preparing for important exams (for a license, certificate, college or company entry, etc.) or poor people who cannot afford regular housing.

I'm always a little surprised at people's reactions to the room. I've never been to Korea, but it kind of just looks like a university dorm to me. All the better because you don't have to share with a roommate, you get your own private space.

Dried Top Ramen packs was the go-to snack we’d bring from home in elementary school in Hawaii….Shrimp flavor was #1 followed closely by Chicken, Beef is third Step 1: You would do a quick karate chop to the closed bag to roughly break up the noodle block Step 2: carefully open one end of bag and fish out the seasoning packet inside and empty the packet into the bag Step 3: pinch bag shut and shake shake shake to distribute seasoning throughout the noodles Step 4: enjoy, and be sure to eat near the girls so they come by and ask you to share some with them

Thank you guys for being so empathetic and putting yourself in the characters shoes and actually trying to understand the desperation of their predicament. You understand the purpose of these episodes and the layers behind every moment, every character, and what that means for the stakes and intensity of the rest of the show. I can’t tell you how happy that makes me! You guys are so sharp, and I can see in your faces you guys feeling every bit of each of these characters. Because of that, I thank you because that is what is as audience want to see in reactors so badly but rarely get, so thank you so much for being such brilliant reactors. Thank you. I can tell you guys are true scholars of movie/tv storytelling 😄 Great job!!

That's what I did...just pressed play and cringed the whole series at the horrible voice dubs! Then I start watching reactions and see everyone else has Korean audio and normal English subtitles (not CC which I also had). Now I'm rewatching it the way the film makers intended...much better. Glad y'all are doing this. I got hooked and subbed with your Marvel content.💘

@BrightForest it's because the dubs are trash and they don't really try too hard to make it emotional from what I've seen.
@thysens
@thysens 3 жыл бұрын
@BrightForest The issue is that in these voiceover dubs, there isn't a director telling the actors when to be subtly or overly emotional; and therefore the intentional tone of scenes can become misconstrued by dubbing, among many other issues that may arise. I don't think anyone should be shamed for choosing to watch via dub (it is an option for a reason), but it is undeniable that the Korean version is the intended and therefore superior format of the show.

They're what Vegas calls degenerate gamblers. They put not only themselves in financial and even physical harm, but the people around them because they just Can't help themselves... ... ... You know what? I keep finding Stephen King ties to this show and here's another one -- Remember Cat's Eye with the story of Quitters, Inc? The guy who ran Quitters, Inc had close friends who died because they were addicted to smoking, so that was his impetus for starting such a radical "treatment." What if the person who runs the Squid Game has the same reason? His father was a degenerate gambler, ruined his family's lives, and now, this is how he "helps" them change. After all, a thing in stasis can't be moved unless acted upon by an equal or greater force. The Squid Game is the greater force. Also, maybe I'll get hate for this, but honestly, it's like this show really did take Stephen King's The Long Walk, The Running Man, and Quitter's, Inc, stirred them in a pot, and came out with this show. Just a thought. haha

Great for going with subs and especially the non-CC subs. Alot of reactors are making the mistake of selecting closed caption subs which explains music playing etc, basically made for deaf people. And FYI, the CC subs are not as accurate as it seems they are subs of the dubbed version which is terrible translation in some bits.

I still enjoy watching your reaction, even though I can’t really read the subtitles quick enough, I suppose I don’t really need to this time. I want to address the hate from other commenters regarding sub. v. dub. Shame on you. Do you not have parents/grandparents who can’t see well or a friend who has a learning disability? There is a way to state your preferred version without being demeaning to others. You know who you are, may you never be put in a similar position where you don’t have to rely on aid or that you at least grow enough to learn to think before you speak.

I can’t read the subtitles and this is still better. Ok if you didn’t start singing YMCA when they were talking about living there I don’t want to know you.

About the ribbons on the casket….from my OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE in Korea, it seems as a form of courtesy, they basically gift wrapped everything there…I went to several restaurants and they gave me stainless steel chop sticks and spoon…at the end of the meal they let me take home the utensils and they wrap it and tied a bow on it Also I went to Starbucks in Korea and I bought an espresso cup that says “Seoul” on it, they wrapped it in a bow (even tho I didn’t request wrapping) everyone in line ahead of me buying non coffee items also had their items wrapped, it seemed like standard operating procedure… I’m not saying this explains the ribbons on the caskets, maybe someone can explain it. I was engaged to a Korean woman and she took me to Korea to visit her family, maybe I got all this special treatment because her family arranged it all 🤷🏽‍♂️

What? Since when did that become a “cultural thing” in Korea? Where did you hear this from? They “let you take home the (stainless steel) utensils”??? No I think you’re really confused 🤣

@@qdkdicja10 I’ve been to Korea, they literally gift wrapped everything just like I said, I have the stainless steel utensils from several restaurants, all given at the end of meal wrapped in a bow…and I bought an espresso cup from the Starbucks in Korea that says “Korea” on the effffing cup, and guess what, they wrapped it with a bow…and I didn’t ask for wrapping with any of this stuff, they just did it

@@bchainz dude I’m literally Korean. Maybe they did those stuff because you’re a foreigner and a tourist and they wanted to be nice, but giving stainless utensils away to customers is not a thing in our culture

@@qdkdicja10 I was engaged to a Korean, that’s why we were there visiting her family…. Maybe “culture” was the wrong word to use, maybe it was “courtesy”…I’m just sharing my own experience, maybe my ex’s family brought me to places that were extra, but I was amazed when the Starbucks was wrapping everything for everybody who bought stuff from them, it looked like standard operating procedure

@@bchainz doesn’t starbucks have a strict and specific policy (especially regarding customer service) that all stores need to follow no matter which country they’re located in tho 👀 idk I just wanted to ask you to clarify where you got that very wrong info (that you’ve so confidently posted in the comment section for all to see) from because I thought it was hilarious
