So I had listened to this album once. I liked it. The second time I put it on was waiting on an airplane to take off. As we were taxiing for takeoff this song came on. As we left the ground the end of the song came on and Martha started screaming. The sound of her squeals and the turbulence made me instantly terrified, like we were going to crash. I gripped my arm rests tight and assured myself everything was fine. The song ended and I thought to myself, "holy shit." I'll never forget that once in a lifetime experience.

If the album is anything like this first tune, you just know it's going to be a real belter! I also love the fact that they haven't put any of their existing singles on their debut album. A brave, exciting move. These lads are always interesting.

The sounds certainly break the mold but influential albums are usually more consistent. I love BGF but there are some dull moments on the back half, I think if Squid can avoid those looser more indulgent songs that they could absolutely write an instant classic.

For real, after playing it so many times... I absolutely love the groove with the clean spicy guitar riffs. But what it does for me is totally that fugazi part which he says repeatedly "i play mine" until it explodes exactly where it should go. The screaming at the end is fantastic, refreshing, really amazing. The bass at the end just keeps on giving, fantastic stuff, for real.

The last part of this song, with the visuals and the manic screaming and faces crumbling apart, is the very embodiment of how COVID19 lockdown is making me feel. Maybe the whole "narrator" concept is of a lonely person going through their house and garden either talking to themselves, or having a mad internal dialogue, during the pandemic. Not sure... I guess we may all have our ideas about what inspired this brilliant yet insane piece of music.
