I'm not a WH fan so forgive me if I get the names wrong. A friend of mine, who's a HUGE WH fan, bought this massive "Titan" (I think) from Forge World. A skilful model builder and painter, he spent weeks assembling and painting this chunk of metal, but all in great secrecy, nobody was even given a glimpse of the thing. Finally the great reveal, this massive thing almost tipping the table over with its weight was complete. It was a masterpiece, he really made an amazing job of what to me looked like a pig to assemble. He boasted proudly about how he would be able to own the battlefield, nobody would be able to resist, he would be the new Darth Vader, oh wait a minute... wrong franchise... Anyway, the great day came, the first time it would appear on the battlefield. My cousin and his Imperial Guard was his opponent. Turn 1 wasn't particularly exciting, even by WH standards (remember guys, I'm not a fan), but turn two was slightly more interesting... An Imperial Guard sniper took a shot at the Titan, threw dice a few times to sort out hits, damage, etc. and ended up taking the Titan out with one shot! The Titan has never been seen since... 😁

Back in the 90's I had a female neighbor who was deep into gaming. I remember her selling some stuff to be able to buy that model. She was an experienced modeler also, so she felt she could handle it. The day it arrived she was so excited she was showing it off to everyone. She got started on assembly immediately. Planned to do it after work and in her spare time. She figured it would only take a week or so. I found her on her front porch mumbling to herself after 5 days almost in frustration tears. After that she worked on it when she wanted to and ignored it when she didn't. I believe she finished it 3 years after she got it. Said that was the only way she could preserve her sanity. Nice girl, but that model almost broke her.

I was also one of the winners of the so called Chateau d Or campaign (you can see me in the German White Dwarf Issue 18 or 17 don’t know wich one). Well long story short. We also visited the GW headquarters and the facility where the metal minis were made. So GW gave us a box so we could pick minis … there was also a section holding the parts for the gunship. But no one took them … we reinforced or armies :-) two Stegadon and much more … but all of my stuff got lost in time sadly …

actually just wanna correct myself - i think it does look fantastic - it's just the cannon and a few small things that look bad (like the space marine in the gunner seat) but that being said everything else is crazy. I could never do anything close this so don't get the wrong idea >_

The truck to sealing paint on metal is to use automotive acrylic car primer. Let it sit for 24 hours, then do a gloss .coat.l that sit for 24 hours. Then paint whatever colors you use for whatever scheme you are doing. Let it dry and harden.then matte coat. Don't touch it for a while. A done. The issue with how you are covering it is on parts that have fragile detail, it could be filled in or lose details

I can't see a single warhammer painted in this video, i feel robbed. Jokes aside this turned into a work of art, that ancient model refreshed with a modern style paintjob looks gorgeous.

Hey man not sure if you'll see this but I just wanted to say what an inspiration you've been for me who just started this hobby. I have a lot to learn but you've really helped me get my foot in the door with it all and made figuring out how to tackle this nearly painless. I literally never picked up a brush before all this and now I'll never put one down! Keep it up, love the videos

recommend just using paper as a tool to get nice and easy danger stripes with perfect lines. You can mark thickness to make them even as well. Sure waiting for it to dry takes a while but it beats doing all those yellow layers and still have a risk of imperfect lines.. Also with airbrush a paper with holes in the shape you want also works but the paper needs to be covering it well..

be creative, be positive, don't destroy it. do something good with it, at least auction/donate for charity if you don't want it yourself. do something productive (as in something that adds to and improves this world).

I remember going through Heathrow airport security and being asked by armed officers to open my the pistol cases that contained my minis(which were mostly plastic with some metal bits) and being scared. I can't imagine doing the same thing with a 14 lb. metal Thunderhawk.

Why would you ever destroy that? It's such an important piece of history, not even counting all the hours and work you put into it. Keep it man. I think you'd regret destroying it.

I tend to use something like skeleton bone (since it covers well and is easy to paint over with yellow) under my yellows to save on the numbers of layers needed.

Your videos inspired me to get into 40k. My art skills are less than good, but the way you explained it makes more sense than alot of other painting vids. Once I level up I want to run Adeptus Mecanus, but cuz I'm i noob I'm going Ork. Thanks for sharing your skills!

That was like an aspirational model to own when I got into the hobby, but now that I’ve seen the amount of effort it took to even build? Let alone paint! Maybe I liked the idea more than the reality...
