Just picked up one of these from Amazon warehouse. With my CC points I got it for $150. It arrived perfect. No issues with it and packaged great. Action was high out of the box. It just needed a truss rod adjustment. I don't think it was tightened at all. Tightened it up and didn't have to do anything else to make it play great. I agree that the neck pickup is a bit muddy but that can be replaced eventually. Now I have to get used to narrow tall frets. I generally like medium jumbos. *Edit:* I forgot to mention mine is the Satin Mocha finish and man is it gorgeous!

Just bought mine for less than AU600 which is a cheap guitar here in Australia. I have not had any issues yet, straight out of the box.

Hey Joe, I've seen a lot of video's over the last few days, where most of those people were bragging about those Telecaster's. But almost all of them sold them after doing a few mods, or just letting them go after a short while. One guy stated that he didn't like the placement of the bridge. He said "the strings didn't line up right over the pickup magnets." But I've been playing guitar since I was thirteen, and I'm 55 years old. I've had a 1974 Gibson SG Custom. a 1983 Buddy Holly, Limited addition, Fender Strat, that I traded for a 1963 Gibson, Les Paul Custom. I know guitars, and those 40th anniversary, Telecaster's sound amazing. May I suggest that you try playing that Telecaster with a subtle touch of phase, and reverb on the Amp's clean setting. I bet that'll be mind-blowing clean tones. Those pickups are a bit muddy for overdrive. However, I bet anyone with decent FX. can dial in a lot of great tones. The player just needs to tweak tone knobs on the amp, and sometimes roll the volume down on the guitar. If one does that, those pickups should work very well for a lot of music. I just happened to catch your review...nice job...quick question, I recently bought a Squier Classic Vibe 50's Telecaster...as a beginner, I felt it was a good place to begin actually learning to play rather than just knowing a 1/2 dozen chords. I recently saw the "Anniversary Edition" in mocha color on the Fender website...I found it to be stunningly rich looking and couldn't resist the urge to buy! Anyway, do you think there is any/enough difference between the 50's Classic Vibe (which I own in Butterscotch) and this Anniversary Vintage Edition to justify keeping both?

Only if you desire the "novelty" of an Anniversary edition. Both guitar's "bones" are basically identical. Hope this helps. Be well Lloyd.

Those Squiers really are excellent for the money, but I'm still hoping they drop again (PAS/Rev had them for 249 briefly). The binding on that axe looks great, nice playing too - Thanks Joe! Rob

Just a question on this, as a beginner buying his first electric which one offers a better playing experience, this or a classic vibe? And is it worth it to spend a few hundred extra and get a player series?

In my opinion-it is not worth it to spend a few hundred dollars more to buy a Player series , which is no better than a CV or 40th anniversary in my opinion. The 40th anniv is basically the same guitar as a CV. Take your pick.

The quality control since Squier went to Indonesia has fell short of good quality. I have a 40th anniversary model. The nut was cut wrong, there was 5 fret wires to high and the pickups have no twang on the bridge and the neck is weak and muddy. I use to buy a $200 guitar that was better than these. Your video was informative but everyone has their own opinions.

I'm living in Germany, and in Thomann sell it under 300 dollor (295dallor). Should I purchase it? I've heard it has pretty good sound, but too expensive for original price (600€).

The Gold Edition is head and shoulders better all around. And, the 40th anniversary Gold was released first.

Personal taste. I hate the heavy laquer on the neck and gold hardware. My reason for going with the Vintage edition. Pickups are the same.
