I'm 8 years old and do think this guitar is made for kids like me. I have a similar 24" hardtail Squier Strat that came in a beginner's pack with all single coil. Dad changed the bridge to a hotrail. These shorter scale Strats are perfect to start with over the larger 25.5 scale. For me now is not a problem to play a full size but early on in my learning would have been very hard and I guess many kids would give up learning. Think Squier affinity HSS Strat is the perfect junior guitar if weight also has been scaled down heaps. Would love to try this one for sure.

Awesome demo and playing! The sustain of this axe is incredible, I didn't expect this from the less dense, less massive poplar body, wow! Wonder, whether replacing the plastic nut with bone or brass has it stay in tune better, maybe adding locking tuners can help The tones are really nice! Thanks, great job!

Sounds good to me especially at the price. fender label good. Strings may be new and average quality. Well played Elmo. I’m thinking of getting one to input live music into iPad Logic Pro .

A new tusq nut, locking tuners, and getting rid of these pesky string trees should keep it in tune... That sounds much better than I anticipated and the 24" scale length sounds fun... It will look cool next to my full-size strats... Oh yeah...Fender Super Bullet 10/46 strings too... As for the wiring we'll see about that later... Another great informative helpful video...Thanks Elmo 🙂🙂🙂

Market for smaller players is really interesting. I see that Thomann have some cheap options and of course second hand, which i would prefer. Nice review, looking forward some comparisons in this category of instruments.😊

I think for the amount of money it would take to get it to really play well and stay in tune, one could buy a HB Modern Plus, a Jet JS400, or some other brand, that would be a far better instrument and something a kid could play their whole life. Some of the Squires seem like really good guitars, but you can get a lot more for less with other brands. And, as always, an excellent video.

I remember how frustrated my son was when his little hands couldn’t accommodate a normal sized guitar neck. He’s just now able to learn now that he’s a little older and he’s doing quite well. But that tremolo is not a good idea. Not for at least three years. Great video, professor!

A certain affordable brand offers a way cheaper jaguar / jazzmaster style hard tail guitar with scale of 610 mm, but it only has two single coils. With Fender style guitars I have always wondered how hard it would be embed the tuning machines a few millimetres on the production line to get rid of the string trees

@@jadenlittlerocker315 Harley Benton MS 60. Squier also has alternatives in 610 mm, Sonic Mustang both single coil and humbucker version. Please do bit of searching as the some of the colour options might be bit eye widening. :) It seems that HB comes in white only, though.

Idk if this brand of guitar is available overseas but I'd love to know what you think about it, an RJ Gigline Skycaster (it has 3 editions, standard, special, special plus) they are mostly the same differences mostly is wood, hardware and pickups, they claim that their guitars are on par with squier classic vibes
@frankhughes5702Ай бұрын
My honest opinion is that a beginner should stay away from a guitar with a tremolo. The Squire hardtail strat or one their telecasters would be best. I started playing at a young age with a Floyd rose and it was a nightmare for me constantly breaking strings and battling tuning problems.

I don't understand why guitars brands keep installing trems in sub 200€ guitars, for that price the likelihood of the trem being decent/nut well cut/decent tuners to withstand trem use is very slim. The big headstock is also a bit ridiculous on such a small guitar. PS: Will you do a review on the new MXR Yngwie pedal? Thanks

@JohnWikuАй бұрын
If this 24" scale guitar doesn't stay in tune, neither will the "mini" or "micro" guitars with shorter scales. Heck, even a full sized Squire or full fledge Fender just don't stay in tune, so that's how it goes with those non locking tremolos. Fender just should consider NEVER installing crappy tremolos and just include FIXED bridges for the cheaper guitar lines.
@mattsikes919Ай бұрын
I've never understood the small scale/mini guitars even for kids. Give them a standard length because if there's a desire to play they'll grow into the guitar. I recently saw a 10 year old little girl wailing on a JEM at my local Guitar Center. The guitar was as big as she was but she put everyone in the store to shame. Like you said, Elmo it doesn't feel right because of its size. Why teach a young person on one thing and then make them feel awkward when they outgrow it?
@fawkesandhoundАй бұрын
The point is you want to remove as many obstacles to learning and having fun that you can. I have a 10yo on the small side and he wants to learn now, which, is an important factor for kids, he’s got a million distractions and things to get into so I’m lucky at all he wants to play. But my Strat is massive to him. It’s difficult to stretch out for scales and chords. If he gets frustrated, chances are he’ll lose interest and won’t come back to it. As for him outgrowing it, I mean, we’ll just get him something else when the time comes. I can even save this and hand it down to his sister to learn on next if she wants.
@rikkifrederiksen2935Ай бұрын
I have a 5y who likes to make some noise. No way he can sit or play with a standard size guitar. believe me, he tried. So, I bought him at 19" tele, which he is having a lot of fun with. So, that is the point.
@friedrudibega6384Ай бұрын
The nut is probably too tight for the .13 strings. No $200 guitar with a tremolo is going to stay in tune without a bit of love. I don’t think a tremolo is appropriate for a beginning guitarist. Neither do you. Laurel is icky.
