You’re not here for the playing and the riffs.. I’ve owned a LOT of teles and guitars generally so this is just my take and feel on these guitars

I have the exact same Harley Benton and mine is perfect. What happens with their guitars is that sometimes the same model is different from one piece to another because of quality controll. But overall, worth the price.

Eyup Rich, nice comparison mate and thanks for letting us know the effects and levels the you're using. I bought the HB db62 for my grandson to learn on. It needed the fret edges rolling and a setup, but not a bad guitar for the money. I personally play a te52, I' ll mod everything on it, as I love the feel of the neck. Take care mate and stay happy.

@jameshunt43394 ай бұрын
I think the vintage sound you refer to Rich is in the model no of the hb62 its supposedly based on a 62 tele. where the te52 is based on the original vintage fifties model. I have both harleys still and if i had to pick i prefer the 52 but its a real heavy beast. and was my first guitar so maybe sentimental reasons as well. Bye the way the 52 is not as heavy as my G&L asat tele. Keep up the great work Rich. Loving the channel still@@thenovicenoisemaker

Awesome stuff, great review, to my ears there’s not 3x better performance out of the squire than the Harley, ( my hearing isn’t the best, far too much gunfire and very loud bangs over the years) but both sounded good to me , the Harley definitely seemed to hold its own in that shootout 👍👍🤠🎸

Being a lefty I was tempted to get one of these as it is one that HB offer left handed however it only has 21 frets where as my B stock heavily modded TE-20 has 22! Seem odd that a more premium offering would be this way around.
@thenovicenoisemaker4 ай бұрын
Yes that’s a fair point. Maybe they’re trying to go more ‘vintage’ with this hence the 21 frets 🤷🏻, don’t know

They sound very similar - 13:50 Squier 14:55 HB, but I prefer HB sound over Squier. The pickups are stronger, IMO.

I think the all classic vibe series have toneriders in them. I had a CV 50's strat for about a year and it was a decent little guitar. The only issue I had was the tall narrow frets. I mainly play a tele, and the strat was bought to create a bit of tonal variation on my pathetic recording attempts. Every time I picked it up it felt kind of alien and I would have to play it for an hour or so to get used to it again. In the end I changed it for a player series, which had done the job beautifully. Point is the toneriders were up to the job. As for Wilkinson, I have a CST 24T that came with a Wilkinson bridge. That guitar inspired me to buy a PRS standard 24. The trem on the HB is actually slightly better than the PRS. They may be cheap but Wilkinson hardware does seem to be pretty good.

@davidbarlow431 I had a cst 24 which was nice. I’m definitely a tele kinda guy and always had a soft spot for CVs. I’ve had several Mexican fenders which are great too but I like the smaller necks on the Squier

I agree Richard, fender prices have gotten out of hand. My personal experience has been you can gett better quality from a Squier than a Mim fender and at times Mim fenders have been better than the USA made guitars. That has been my experience. This Hb tele is on my to be purchased soon list. Just bought several more guitars in the last 2 weeks so I need to slow it down a bit. Im going to guess you will be keeping the Squier tele, very good product buddy! Cheers!
@thenovicenoisemaker4 ай бұрын
Don’t slow down, buy more 😂! Yes, the CV is a keeper, I’m happy to own one again
@autistonaut4 ай бұрын
I think you're right about the mexican fenders being pricey for a basic guitar. I might have been lucky, but I hot a new one and it was great out of the box. Modern C neck which feels better than the CV in my opinion. I also don't like the ashtry style bridge on the CV - it's uncomfortable for me, gets in the way of palm muting and playing strings closer to the bridge if you want that kind of sound. I personally think it's worth the money as it's the perfect guitar for me but it is almost twice as much as the CV. I'm also very biased because I love my Mexican Player 😃

Good to hear. No question they’re still a good guitar so if you got a decent one out of the box too, that’s fab 👍🏻

Bought a classic vibe off of Amazon for 254 quid . Jack socket fell out in within an hour . The foundations are certainly very good though .. Comparing the pickups to both my American pro and player they are a little muddy and not nearly as hot as the others but you could say it suits the 50s vibe . I’m going to stick it into a guitar tech get them to fit a better jack input and a set of tone rider pick ups . Think I will have a great Telly for around 400 quid

the good thing is that if you don't like the tone, you buy the mojotone 52 or 58, and change all the electronics and then you would go for the same price approx as the Squier.

It was fairly easy 30 years ago; there were Fenders in a very clear and small range of models, and they were the best, then there were all the cheap copies, some of which were 'okay', but nobody would have seriously suggested any of them were better than a Fender. These days however, there are so many different models of Fender and Squier Telecasters, that Fender have watered down their own brand identity to a point where nobody cares whether a guitar has a Fender logo on the end of it because the Telecaster brand identity has been pissed away. Couple this with the fact that sub-two hundred quid copy guitars are now as well made as the originals and it's a real problem for Fender, and for their Squier brand too. My HB TE-52 is better than my '90s Fender Standard Telecaster and to be honest, I bet if I tarted up a seventy quid Glarry or Donner Telecaster copy, it would probably give my Fender a run for its money.

I very nearly bought a Fernandes Strat copy when I was in Japan - price was ¥40,000, which was, at that time, around £266. Compared to my US Strat, it mopped the floor if I'm being honest. The days of the classic brands being the best and everything else being an inferior imitation are so over. Especially with the quality of guitars from Indonesia, and the super high quality of guitars from Japan and Korea!

As the HB has a thinner body, a fairer comparison would be against the equivalent Squier (Affinity?), the price of which will be closer. Anyway, you'd probably need to gig them both equally for a few years and assess their durability. I'm glad you commented on the HB tuners etc. In my experience, bottom-budget guitars are simply not worth the money, and it's far better to step up one price point. I have an Indonesian Squier CV 50s Strat, and while it's not as durable as a Player (and certainly miles away from a US model), it's still good enough to gig, albeit not heavily.
@thenovicenoisemaker4 ай бұрын
Good to know the Squier is good for gigging. There’s a few famous Squier musicians. One guy, forget his name, gigs Bullet strats
@dragan46584 ай бұрын
I've played USA made and Mim strats, the Mim was better all around. My Agile was better than the Epiphone LP Custom at half the price, even rivals Gibsons $1800 guitars and has better appts than the Gibson. Guitars are individuals so price does NOT always mean that it's the better guitar, that has been my experience.
