@@intothemystic1795 I don't think that's really fair, part of the fun of watching him is how much joy he has playing so many different basses, he's so genuinely into it. He recently tried out a Harley Benton guitar where he was making the most incredible faces over the meaty P-Bass tone. Of course there is some overlap between P-Bass and Stingray tones but not as much in this case.

Lastly, they should really bring back the Japanese Mustangs that are finished in the original competition colours. The racing stripes make them look amazing! I think G&L is capitalizing on this segment of the market with their Fallout basses but they are not widely available. I would kill for a mustang in competition orange!

6:33 Funny, I had to do the exact same thing, the A string slot was cut too deep on mine as well, had to add a tiny shim. I really like that little bass, paid only 260 Euros used for mine. Only other negative thing was that the pickguard looked like it was fitted at the neck pocket with a pair of blunt garden scissors, but i found a replacement from a pickguard maker in Scotland on ebay. I recommend changing strings to a set of LaBella DTF 760 F-MUS flatwounds.

Interesting! I didn’t think it was that fragile feeling, but mustangs always feel a little bit less robust than a P etc just for the fact there’s less wood. However, I wouldn’t hesitate to take this out or use it based on fragility - Fender style builds are always more robust than they should be!

Another great vid Tyler. As usual with low end basses, the tone control has little effect through 80% of its range. Little sound difference from 100 to 50%. . A handsome instrument for sure -very tempting, but how is the neck profile vs the MIM Mustang (which I've owned)?
@Apemopo10 ай бұрын
one thing you need to know is that you need to buy MEDIUM scale strings for da mustang bass! i learned the hard way. that strings-through-body bridge means short scale strings are too short and they'll typically start tapering (the part which should go around the tuning peg) at or before the nut on the lowest string.

Great nuts and bolts review - informative on hardware and showing tone while playing same thing. Seriously good! In the 70's I considered a Fender pukka one of these but I couldn't afford it any more than a P bass - I would have cut a carotid artery for a P bass then. Now I'm 69 and have a Precision but hands are a wee bit sore so I'm thinking again about a Mustang.

I have a question for you: Fender Flea Jazz Bass '61 or Fender American Original '60s (Candy Apple Red) ?
@TylerSpicer4 жыл бұрын
Leonardo 877 I haven’t played the flea. I am a sucker for the Am Original series and their feel. The stacked pots on the Flea will give you access to a wider range of tones, many of the combinations I like. Tough one. I would really have to play both next to each other, but the Flea does seem to have a lot of those American Original features whilst being considerably cheaper. I would tentatively say the Flea, but I would get both, see which I preferred and send the other back (or try both out in store). Fenders really vary so much from example to example because of the inconsistency of wood and the number they build. You have to hunt and play as many as you can to find the best Fenders, no matter which country it was born in!

Ehi Tyler, I ended up buying the AM Original ... Its price was like the one of Flea + the vintage case (250$), so it was a good deal! I haven't played the Flea, and I think that they both sound similar, because of the similar spec. ... But considering the price, I bought the AM Or for the Case, the American quality, and because It is not the "Flea" bass, It's mine. (Don't get me wrong, I love Flea). It seems more professional, that's It. Anyway, I'm in love with It!! 😍😍😍

Hey! Im about to buy my first bass guitar. Would you recommend this one?
@TylerSpicer4 жыл бұрын
Kalli De Baca definitely a good place to start! My only concern would be that it’s short scale, which makes it easier in the short term, but longer term most basses are made long scale, so switching to a bigger bass down the line might feel difficult. However, short scales are definitely in fashion at the moment and sound as good as longs scale, just with a slightly different flavour. T

@@TylerSpicer wow! I didnt notice that, thanks! Yes ur right. Well it will take time for me to switch to a new bass cause i need a lot of practice. As a female beginner it will be propably convenient. My concearn is, if short scale has a full sound and sounds the same as long scale?

Kalli De Baca short scale is definitely a good way to go. A short scale has a more bassy low-end and a brighter top end, but not as much definition and fullness in the midrange. You can’t really go wrong, so buy with confidence! T

I recently ordered and returned one of these, I was so dissapointed with the finish, residue of glue or varnish around he frets, some kind of overspray in the lacquer of the neck... several small depressions on the body, which I suspect were present before it was painted. I liked the tone and I love the vintage tint on the neck, but the quality of the tuners was very average.If you badly want a mustang, save a bit longer and by a JMJ... its nearly 3 times the price ok but overall I beleive it is much better value for money, but getting I only wish Yamaha made a shortscale bass. In terms of overall quality my Yamaha TRBX304 is superior in every way.
