Fender Japan reissued the Karana as an artist signature recently. The vintage ones are really rare and are skyrocketing in value.

Wow, Patrick spent some serious money on the Gotoh parts for the Katana bass. That will be a high quality build. Nice to have Sunday Morning Shred back again, Mark!

I never have seen a Katana bass. It looks cool as hell, actually. I generally don't like a 'chopped' look, but it works really well for that bass.

Each pick up is for 2 strings. Hence no selector.

I've seen that Katana on Trogly's show, it's a very rare model. I think there's also a new signature model for some artist now.

I've used the conductive paint (MG Chemicals - 841WB) in the electronics cavity and WOW did the hum drop way down. I put on 3 coats (1 was already conductive, but they recommend 2 to 3) and I'm very happy with it. Sure, using copper/metal tape is much quicker and the paint smells super toxic, but the conductive paint is far more permanent...but maybe I'm giving that aspect too much credence.

I'm doing a 5150 build myself in the next few months, might wait until you do yours for any good tips and tricks when will it be released?

There’s one on reverb right now! It’s in pretty immaculate condition too.

@@thecaliforniashine got a few messages about that one haha, price is a bit high though 😔

@@williammacintosh1239 I paid $660 for the one in this video, but it was in rough condition. The one on reverb is priced a bit high considering you can buy a brand new Fender Katana remake for about $1200. If I had the extra money tho I’d scoop the one on reverb because as you know these squiers don’t come up very often and hardly ever in such great condition for an 80s bass. Also considering all the replacement parts I bought and the cost of having Mark refinish it; I’m probably over that dollar figure anyhow.

@@thecaliforniashine would that $650 katana be by chance the one on ebay around september? i had my eye on one that fit that exact description, it got relisted and instantly sold which I still kick myself for
