I have been considering a Danelectro 12 string for years but there’s something about this guitar that just wins me over. People say it doesn’t sound like a Rickenbacker but I hear that tone.

This is the perfect review for me : I needed to hear some "modern" sounds with this guitar as this is what I directly thought of when seeing this guitar : what does it sound like with shimmers, cool ODs, modulations, (reverse) delays etc. Lots of creative soundscaping potential with this one ! (Especially want to try some alternate tunings even if standard tuning is already out of this world)

Man, so glad to hear that! It's funny, some complain that you "can't hear the guitar through all the effects" but I almost never play in guitar into amp contexts. I suppose there are places for demos in both context. Glad you dig it - this 12 has been a fun one to have around.

I agree! Don't get me wrong, I love "turn, turn, turn" by the byrds but it seems that almost every 12 string video has to demonstrate it as well as the other 12 string hits. I've got the strymon trifecta plus a volante and was wanting a 12 string to play along with them. I could go into some debt and build my credit up some more if I choose the Ricky 360/12 mapleglo or I could just get one of these flat out, I'm still torn. At any rate I'm happy that I came across this video! 🤘

I got one of these this year, a g&l Doheny also in lake placid blue and a vintera bass vi also in lake placid blue. I've been a leo fender mark for a few years and the brand fender released some really great affordable reissues this year in the jazzmaster xii and the bass vi; reiussues that people obviously wanted and as we can see from the results in sales (they're good) they were right to do it. I want to replace the tuners on my paranormal jazzmaster as there are a few that are spongey and seem to do nothing until you've cranked 2 or 3 full rotations already so that will cost me about 130$ to get 12 kluson vintage correct tuners. I did replace the pickups with avri 65 jazzmaster pups and that was an easy swap and actually cheaper than the tuners if you can believe that. The stock neck pickup was ok, but the stock bridge pup in the xii was like 15 ohms and it was impossible to get a clean tone out of it, at band mix levels, even on my twin reverb.

Thank You for the great video. This particular model can tend to sound very Sitar like in comparison to the gold standard 12 string - The Rickenbacker. It seems more like an electric acoustic 12 string rather than an electric 12 string. It is a very unique instrument and it does produce some gorgeous tones even before you start adding effects processing. Good as it sounds in stock form, I actually think it would sound even better if the thing used the Rickenbacker 12 stringing configuration. Heck, I'm very tempted to purchase one and get it set up that way. Cheers from the Land Down Under.

Which pedal can create smooth time stretched reverse sounds? I’m guessing it will be octave down in order to be stretched. I recently tried the bl-44 but it doesn’t reliably create smooth long reverses. It creates a stutter at the beginning or at the end of each buffer playback. I’ve had CT5 before but I can’t remember if mode 1 can create live reverse octave down without stutter sounds. Also does CT5 mode 1 have tap tempo? Thanks!

Something like the Walrus Lore has a more smooth feel in the reverse. I tend to run a reverse reverb at full wet, then put a nice billowey reverb after it to soften the blow. CT5 does not have tap tempo. You can get reverse from the mode 1 but its a bit edgy and shimmery and you'd want to run a filter or verb after it probably.

Never played a vintage original - it *sounds* like a great deal at $900 but I don’t know anything about the instrument you reference. I’m impressed with this from an affordable option perspective, but hard to compare it to a vintage piece
