I mentioned cooking squirrels and gravy in a staff meeting once and almost got voted off the property. The pictures of my bucks on my bulletin board enraged the college kids too. Thank the Lord that you two raised a daughter properly. Good video Jeff.

It really is Sad. I’m cooking some Squirrels now. Last batch before the Start of 2022/23 Season. Most Folks have NO IDEA of what they are missing. Squirrel and Gravy is a Delicacy. One Admission. I’m 63 years old and STILL eat the Brains:)

My children are in their late forties now. I had my first squirrel when two oldest were one and two. We lived on the Cheyenne River Valley in North Dakota at the time. Everyday when I came home from feeding the cattle, I have squirrels running across the road from the cornfield so I popped a couple. Did not have a recipe for squirrel, so just Brown the carcass hole and then roasted it like a turkey or a plucked pheasant. That's what it actually tastes like to me was roast pheasant. Make brown gravy from the drippings in the roaster, that was delicious. When I watched you cooking them my mouth was watering the whole time. Time to start making some lunch. Thanks again for the videos I love your food prep videos. I don't know if I would be able to wait all day for the finished product.

Oh my Lord! This reminds me of Grammy’s slow-cookin all the wild meat we’d bring home to her. Squirrels Rabbits Venison Woodchuck Suckerfish She always told us boys not to pass up a chance to kill any critters, that if we’d bring it to her she’d clean and cook it. And she always had some kinda bread, her StickyBuns were the best oozing with her special syrup. Man I miss her cookin! Appreciate y’all Jeff❗️ 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Love squirrels cooked this way, hard to beat. Other way I love them is to pressure cook them in chicken broth, need to pick bones on big tray (not fun buy hey) then add veggies to the stock and thicken a bit, make squirrel pot pies from them, I prefer smaller ones, individual size.. eat some and freeze some for later depending on how much and who is eating, LOL God Bless

Your doing a Great service Jeff, for many years to come these videos will educate the young people as to how people have cooked for generations. Squirrels are really good, and Rabbits are the best, I would rather have a fried fat rabbit the a filet mignon . Take care. Peace.

Come Christmas time, I gonna go back home to VA and deer and squirrel hunt up on my brother-in-law's land. I've already got 2 deer from rifle season. Next is muzzleloader season. See if I can get one or 2 more. But, I'm gonna take my son's Gamo .177 cal air rifle, put my air rifle scope in it and dial it in. I'll take that to pop some squirrels on my brother-in-law's land. I had 8 fox squirrels in range all at once while I was deer rifle hunting back last month. They need to be thinned out a bit. And I like squirrel. My son wants to try squirrel. He's never had squirrel to eat. But he'll chew up some deer steaks and roast!
