Get to know the neighborhood behind the recent headlines.
Squirrel Hill is not only Pittsburgh's largest city neighborhood but also one of the most complex. In a time of declining city population, Squirrel Hill has grown. It has become the Pittsburgh's own Ellis Island, a mecca for varied ethnic groups moving to Pittsburgh, and home to the most unusual restaurants and stores in town. It's also becoming a model for city living. There's so much to see - in only 30 minutes, but you'll enjoy Squirrel Hill in a nutshell.

It was such a pleasure seeing scenes of the wonderful COFFEE TREE ROASTERS coffeeshop in this video of my favorite city in the USA! It was rather unexpected and, therefore, a very pleasant surprise. Actually, I was the first customer to walk into that lovely coffeeshop and, as I discovered in this video, it was on July 3, 1993. I bought a very good cup of coffee and the very nice lady who was working there that day offered me a free scone which she had broken into little pieces and which she brought over to my table in a napkin. When I first walked into the store both she and the wonderful owner were smiling as they notified me that they had just opened and that I was their first customer. I went to that great coffeeshop many many times over the years and the coffee, as well as the owner's pleasant personality and attitude, were always a great treat. I sincerely hope that that place is still open and operating in 2021 because I would love to go back and enjoy their great coffee and the pleasant atmosphere once again just like I did in the 1990's.

@@jamesslick4790 lol no its not. it closed down because the employees all quit because the management was notoriously horrible to the baristas that worked there.

@@CryWolfFilms The Squirrell Hill location might NOW be closed. It WAS open when I made my original comment, Then again Sq. Hill ALSO lost Pamela's and Eat N Park since then too. HOWEVER, they are STILL in Shadyside, Mt Lebo, Fox Chapel and Pleasant Hills.

We moved to Squirrel Hill from Eastern Canada when I was 8 years old in 1963. I have very fond memories of swimming in the pool at what was then called the Irene Kaufman Center on Forbes Avenue. I went to St. Edmunds Academy right next door!

5:00 "last year we dedicated..." and shows sign dated 2011. So must've originally came out in 2012. Still can't believe the 240p quality though.
