I remember going through the Squirrel Hill tunnel and a "head shop" from the early 70's called "Heads Together".

HT was a frequent after-school stop for myself and friends; great music store and friendly ownership.

Thank you for this opportunity to revisit a place very near to me. Though I’ve been in California for twenty years now, Pittsburgh/Sq. Hill are in my DNA.

I lived with and worked for a lovely Jewish family in Squirrel Hill on Woodland Rd in the early eighties...very fond memories❤

Very nice piece! Never knew Lady Schenley was such a saga. Saved the best for last too! Squirrel Hill Cafe there has life-altering wings and a chipper staff! 🤘

Henry Clay Frick's home was in Point Breeze not Sq. Hill. Clayton still stands and is open to public tours. Many of the wealthy had mansions in Point Breeze, just north and east of Sq. Hill.

Its a beautiful spot. Incredibly safe and friendly. I dropped some money over on Murray one time and someone ran up the street to give it back to me.

The picture on the thumbnail and at 10:48 is of central Oakland (when the Cicero's owned a lot of property there), not Squirrel Hill. (Note the Strand Bowling Alley.) As a ;lifelong (76 year) Pittsburgh resident, I am always irritated by narrators who don't know how to pronounce "Carnegie.." The people of Dunfirmline, Scotland would emphasize the second syllable (as do true Pittsburghers), not the first syllable (as do Irish-influenced New Yorkers).

It must be rough to be triggered by historical fact. . . .Bowers (the shooter) himself acknowledged the political and social context which influenced his ideology and his actions. As a lifelong Squirrel Hill resident, I can attest that this heinous act was, and still is, a tragic milepost that looms over the community.
Very interesting history of this great neighborhood. Unfortunately, a couple of quick political points were added in a very inappropriate manner. Very disappointing.

The picture of President Trump with the words "hate" and "extremism" enblazened next to him was a low blow. President Trump was/is a supporter of the Jewish community and Israel.
