On the river one day, heard a splash, I saw a squirrel swimming back to shore. I thought he fell from a tree. He swam back, climbed up a tree, ran out on a limb and jumped into the river. He did this over and over a half dozen times as we paddled by. One of the wildest things I've ever seen. Squirrels seem to be very playful!
@BackYardFiles6 жыл бұрын
LOL, are you serious? That would have been crazy to see! They do seem to repeat themselves a lot when playing. Maybe he was showing off : ))

This is because squirrels are in fact very, very, very dumb animals relative to humans. Conversely, humans are very, very, very intelligent animals. This simple difference allows humans to manipulate geometry, take advantage of gravity, and exploit the relentless feeding urges of other animals, all to create little blips of entertainment for other humans. Don't consider tormenting, but rather as payment for nutrition and for being a squirrel.
@rulyfeliciano23516 жыл бұрын
Science Exclamationpoint I guess that you considered your self and animal by all means.
@wolf9walker6 жыл бұрын
some people would argue that humans are not as intelligent as they think. or at least a lot of humans dont use their intelligence.
@EgadsNo6 жыл бұрын
Science Exclamationpoint your entire statement is rhetoric based on using cherry picked metrics. Being noticeably hairless, clawless, fangless animals we certainly were driven to adapt in different ways but intelligence is simply the ability to process information- what you are alluding to is learned wisdom- and that is the same wisdom that creates endless wars and trash the environment, when we have more than enough means to live in peace and nobody need not die of starvation. If you want to compare the logic of being irrational verses being rational and declare the irrational is the intellectually superior victor then by all means that is your right to opinion but the fact remains we should know better then act the way we do- and that is pretty stupid of us. The simple matter of fact is that 4 limbed inverse kinematics translating in 3 dimensions on rough terrain also requires the processing of information and far much more than our mode of conveyance. Their sense of smell is also more developed and they have a huge primary visual cortex, their peripheral view is as as sharp as their focal point. Right there alone they are likely actively processing more information. "This simple difference allows humans to manipulate geometry, take advantage of gravity, and exploit the relentless feeding urges of other animals," Never seen squirrels chase each other, or hide nuts from each other? Will never see a squirrel operate a lathe, but why would a squirrel need to? Compared to use they are super human and adequately adapted to thrive in their environment.

I am still deciding how much I like this video , in part it looks cruel , yet the squirrels kept going back as if they enjoyed it , and they do enjoy odd things , so if this was all done to amuse the little gems then super nice to make toys for them real cool , if it was done to torment them then it's super nasty . I will give the benefit of doubt on this , they did look and seem to be very interested and enjoy . PS: I really love squirrels and hate anyone harming them , but if you are enjoying time with them and playing , for " Mother Nature " let me say Thank You !
@BackYardFiles6 жыл бұрын
timc333, that is super nice of you and I respect the fact you didn't judge me. The time i spend with these guys just hanging out and feeding them vs a few minutes of video like this is far between. Without my interference, they jump and freak out, like that all day : ) Rolling down the tube looks crazy, but right afterwards he came right back. As long as the little guys don't get hurt, they assume it is the norm and go right back to what they were doing. I think I have pushed it too far sometimes, and have been thinking of that a lot lately. Thanks again for your comment
@timc3336 жыл бұрын
It is pretty clear to see now that you and your friends are having fun , if they were bothered they wouldn't return , my take is that squirrels do enjoy playing and well just being a bit crazy , and as I said , if any human goes to the extent that you have to entertain and enjoy along with them , then your video of this most certainly can get a like from me , again Thank You in the name of nature for being part of nature and giving her tiny beast a little entertainment and fun , you're alright in my book , keep it up , you surely will be rewarded if you haven't been already , I suspect that you have been blessed by all this .
