The nameless squirrel tried storing as much as he could in his mouth! So cute. And Lilly is just a sweetheart. My squirrels are eating a lot more too! I even cut grapes in half for them. They love it! They eat the inside and leave me the skin! Lol. Happy Monday ❤

I would have never guessed that you'd have grackles where you are. I thought they were a more southern bird. I'm in So. TX and they are everywhere. In the late winter, they congregate in the trees and on power lines and the collective sound they make is like something you've never heard before. I actually saw a grackle take a peanut from my squirrel feeder the other day. I didn't know they liked nuts. Monarch butterflies migrate through here in the fall and at their peak, they are all over the grills of cars. Sitting in a parking lot one day, I saw a few grackles hopping up on the bumpers of cars so they could pick out the dead butterflies.

I feed the squirrels at the La Brea Tar Pits park here in LA. I usually buy them raw unshelled peanuts. I've been doing it for years so, now, when they see me they come running. Like you, I love them.

I absolutely love when they touch our hands. They are such sweet creatures. So gentle. The smaller the nut the more cautious they seem to be. Don’t want to bite the hand that feeds them! They’ve definitely started to eat more.

Thank you for your inspiration. I have started feeding squirrels around my house also. I am near Houston TX and I set up a birdbath and toss nuts out. The birds that have started coming around... just amazing. Cardinals, blue jays, sparrows, white wing doves, other little birds that I don't remember their names. Thank you... Mine don't come to my open window... I live in the south... we roast here if you open a window. but, they do give my cats lots of fun things to watch from inside the house with the AC on.

I have been a fan of squirrel videos for years, and I love the little critters. I know the pioneers and other poor folk considered them a food animal, but I don't believe I could ever bring myself to kill or eat one. They seem to epitomize vulnerability and the need for love. I love your videos. It is clear that you have a deep love for these creatures. I used to walk a trail for daily exercise, and I began taking unsalted nuts to leave on tree stumps for the squirrels. Evidently, others who walked the trail noticed, because, one day, I met one coming from the opposite direction who told me that there was a squirrel waiting at a particular stump for me to leave him some food! I have always wanted to have these little darlings become comfortable enough with my presence to trust me. Unfortunately, I live too high up for them to find me, or I would happily leave them treats. I once found a recipe for squirrel cookies and baked some, leaving them with the nuts. A friend of mine thought that was hilarious, and I was offended! It was very gratifying; but, be advised: the ants like them, too!

My Grackles and Blue Jays prefer unsalted peanuts in the shell above everything. I bought Black Oil sunflower seeds for the Cardinals, but my squirrels LOVE them and will sit and the bowl and eat them like potato chips for 15, 20 minutes! I had adult Cowbirds at my feeders, but they have all disappeared and have been replaced by their fledgling offspring. Dozens crowding my sparrows at the feeders. But their parents showed them where the food was and they come everyday. 😃

I have a clan of about 10 Grey squirrels that live in the Sugar maple trees outside my house, they all have various comfort levels with human engagement, only one will walk right up and grab nuts from my hand like Lily. I call him Mario because he does some amazing jump maneuvers and has a reddish tint to his fur lol. Lily really trusts you a lot.
