Well, I don't know about all. We shouldn't get carried away. There are some pretty simplistic animals, ones without brains or a central nervous system. Ants have but a few ganglia, yet their behavior is fascinating. They can act selflessly, but it's not love. Their behaviors are hard-wired, honed by evolution, complex though they may be.
@anandsharma74304 ай бұрын
@@daveg5857 I agree partly with you. Choosing between emotions is a sign of introspective intelligence, which might be absent in a large part of the animal kingdom. But the inability to choose does not mean that they don't feel the hardwired emotion. They might feel repulsion, attraction, servitude, mastery, gentleness, cruelty, combat, escape, and many other basic survival-related and social emotions necessary to function in their species' social structure. They may have no introspection and no choice, but they do feel those emotions. As long as we humans have the ability to introspect, we are different from the vast animal kingom, but many of us don't use that ability and continue displaying hardwired behaviours, although ours are primate groups behaviours rather than insect group behaviours. Try insulting Trump in a Trump rally for instance, or openly support communism on the floor of the NYSE. The reactions to such hypothetical actions would be hardwired emotions, not thought out chosen emotions.

I gave 3 squirrels over to a rehabber and then watched as she released a group in a wooded area behind my house. I went back the next day to see if any of the squirrels stayed around.2 did. I went everyday to visit those 2 to feed them.If they werent visible I called to them and they came running.I would spent a couple of hours watching them, sitting with them, feeding them. The beautiful thing is they considered me family when my human family didnt. That was the best summer of my entire life.Another time I raised a squirrel on my own and released it but it didnt bond with me which shows that even though squirrels may all look to be the same, they are not.They have personalities just as people do. It was a great experience and to my surprize I had a chipmonk take a grape from my hand.He or she must have observed me with the squirrels and deemed me safe. And by being in those woods everyday I had a mystical experience where one day I felt a super awareness of my surroundings. Btw, someone took a photo of me holding one of the squirrels and in 2 photos we caught a fairy-I kid you not.Nature spirits are real.

He would eat from my hand but only Sonny was allowed to touch/lick him. We moved last Sept. and Sonny stayed by the window for weeks waiting for him. Was sad until "Stumpy" squirrel came into our lives as a wild kit last fall. His tail had been severed by an aggressive male squirrel so he looks like a mini groundhog. @First._.Last.4 ай бұрын
That's in part because we develop their environment to become our neighborhoods. And sadly, even in my once tree-rich neighborhood, the uptick in destruction due to earlier and longer storm seasons means that we are all having to level the tallest and oldest trees in order to appease the terrific winds and the terrible Homeowner Insurance Companies. I can't help but to feel complicit, which is why I've (mostly) stopped being frustrated when wildlife chomps my melon or squash flowers before the yellow-gold and golden-orange beauties have even fully opened.
