Mix the entire quantity of ground walnuts(1 pound), chopped walnuts (1 pound) and Kirkland nut butter, and add 2 tablespoons of vitamins and 1 teaspoon of calcium. You can make less of a quantity, but I like to make it all at once and store it in the fridge.

This makes me miss our regular family in Minnesota, who came up to our 3rd floor balcony daily, Peanut, Pistachio, Pecan, Praline, Curly Joe, 2 white "spirit" squirrels, & some babies. We bought cases of peanuts, shelled them by hand, & put those out for them. They recognized our car coming home, & scurried up the the building to our deck, hung out on the screens, umbrella, or by the sliding glass door. We just loved them. So sweet of you to do this. Enjoyed this video immensely. ♥

To put you at ease about city animals and junk food, I read they don’t live long enough for trash (like trash as in bad but also taken from trash cans) food to significantly impact their health and having these food sources noticeably decreases their stress levels and they also have more babies. I think the study concluded that, yeah it’s bad kinda but in terms of quality of life, they do well. I was surprised but I could see the trade off.

I used to do small animal rescue. I've had several squirrels. They are smart and have individual personalities. They are amazing, little friends. They can be leash trained and can follow commands.

It's interesting to see how some of them just dig in, while others are suspicious about this unfamiliar-looking food. I guess some have figured out that anything you give them is safe, while others listen to their survival instincts. Also, I love how many of them sit with their front paws tucked "anxiously" against their chest... except Earl, who looks like he's carrying a squirrel-sized refrigerator.

Last Spring, we were waiting for a new fridge and put all our groceries in bags on the fourth floor porch. Out the window I saw a squirrel inspecting the bags, and then he grabbed hold of a big jar of Kirkland peanut butter and dragged it right out of the bag with mouth and paws, landing on his back with the jar on his tummy! I had to go rescue the peanut butter before he dragged it down the side of the building, but I left out a few nuts for him, which he came back for. I gave him nuts every day after that - he came close to 10 AM every day - and I named him Peanut Butter. But one day, about 2 months later, he stopped coming and after a while I had to think something bad had happened to him. I still miss him!
