this reminds me of a weed that grew everywhere where i grew up, in the Philippines. the seed container for this weed was brown & kinda hard & would explode if exposed to water, dispersing the seeds inside of it. i always liked playing with it by collecting as many of these seed containers as i could carry, find a puddle of water, throw them in & enjoy the explody fun. sometimes one of them would explode in my hand, especially if it was a bit sweaty from runnning around trying to collect these things. i never knew what that weed was called & now i'm feeling abit nostalgic for such simple times.

The pods dries out as the seeds mature, building up pressure until they explode with a snap, tossing all the seeds a few meters. They are very hard to get rid of, as the seeds will take years to start grow a new plant.
