Yes, the SR+ sure is a good car, and it’s actually seriously quick, with classic rear wheel drive and great handling. I believe it comes with the octovalve and heat pump now? Cheap to run too.

Very nice video! In Spain, the price difference is even higher: about 14.000€, so I have no doubt, SR+ is the best deal. Your car looks very nice and I’m sure you can drive all over your country as well as in a LR. Thanks for speaking so clearly, I understood everything you said, which is not easy for a Spaniard!

So in my case then the model 3 long range is the solution . No ev parking in my condo, but my town has public fast charging , $2 dollars per hour Max is 8 hours at this price .

I originally reserved a Model 3, but canceled once I figured the sedan trunk wasn't going to work for me when I need to haul lots of stuff, which happens more often than I thought. But I'm very happy with my Model Y which has the extra cargo space, as well as the slightly higher ride which makes getting into it much easier. But this was a good comparison video for those who are looking at a Model 3, especially the refreshed one with the longer range and heat pump for better efficiency in winter driving.

@@icephoenix3565 Yes, after a year of ownership, I already put 20k miles/32k kilometers on it. It's really fun to drive, and with the Supercharger network, long range travel isn't too difficult. I also use the built-in entertainment during my lunch breaks at work to watch an episode of tv shows/anime everyday as well.

Totally agree, except I think the SR handles better because it has less weight over the front tires. Also, I tell people to cut the listed range in half because of battery degradation, high speed driving, and heating losses in a worst case scenario.
@glene9986

Cutting the listed range by 50%... Is that realistic?
@willaerley7140
@willaerley7140 3 жыл бұрын
@@glene9986 It is in a worst case scenario. Figure 10% battery degradation after a couple years, below freezing the heater has to warm the cabin and battery at a roughly 20% loss, driving at highway speeds over 70mph will cost 10% or more, driving when it’s windy or through hills can cost 10%. That’s 50% and trust me, you don’t want to deal with the stress of being under 10% range on a regular basis.

@@willaerley7140 Thanks Will. I'm looking at the 2021 SR+ LFP with the 18" aero wheels to complete a daily commute of 102km in each direction and am a little nervous that I will be pushing the limits of this car. It is open road driving with about 20km of the trip being elevated and winding with varied speed limits between 60, 80 and 90km/h - traffic usually flows at around 100km/h. I would be pre-heating the cabin/car in the garage each morning before I left while still plugged in and the temperatures rarely drop below 0 here, I would say a typical winter morning would be between 5-10 degrees celsius and between 10-16 degrees celsius in the afternoon. From what I've read I think I should be okay even on poor weather days and there is a DC charger halfway on the route if I was caught out but I would like to avoid ever using that as the additional time required on a daily basis is not a realistic option for me.
@willaerley7140
@willaerley7140 3 жыл бұрын
@@glene9986 You should be good. Supposedly, the LFP is fine being charged to 100% daily. The SR+ is a great car and I’ve never felt like I’ve needed anything more.
@glene9986
@glene9986 3 жыл бұрын
@@willaerley7140 That's what I understood as well so I figured the LFP should suit my requirement since I can safely squeeze the most out of it. I was fairly convinced on pulling the trigger on one this week but we had a fairly disappointing contactless test drive yesterday that has made me question whether or not to go ahead. The nearest test drive location is 425 km from us so I organised a test drive in an SR+ well in advance, took the time off work and travelled down the day before. When we arrived they only had the LR as an option. We were then pushed to a fairly tight time frame and given a "highly recommended" 30 minute route pre-programmed into the GPS to follow which was mostly basic low speed city driving. When I did manage to get onto the highway and test out the acceleration the remote Tesla Advisor we were dealing with freaked out because we exceeded the speed limit while passing a car on the highway - it certainly wasn't excessive or dangerous and to be honest, I'd drive it exactly the same way if it were my car. You don't purchase a car with that kind of performance to crawl past other cars when overtaking. When we got back to the service centre there were a few quick questions answered and we were sent on our way. I didn't get a chance to really understand how the car handles or look through many of the features or even check over the interior/exterior of the car. Overall it was a pretty lacklustre experience and I don't feel like I really know the car any better than before - I think Tesla have a long way to go to improve there. All that said, I'm probably going to buy one anyway.

Am considering buying the LR 2019 (used with FSD) or the 2021sr+ for about the same price. Of course the 2019 has already 7000km on it and not that I now need the fsd/hw3 that it has but it feels future proof. So the range of these two are 440km vs 560-580km on the 2019. Help me decide please. Daily I don’t need range, only 1-2 times a year. The new has a heat pump etc. Actually I don’t need the speed either however I live in Sweden with some slippery roads some times when they haven’t salted the roads enough. Of course steering wheel heater is nice and heating in the back also and sound. Can one upgrade the sound in the sr? Any thoughts?

@CallasEV 3 жыл бұрын
Hm I think I'd do the standard range. I really like mine, it's perfect for daily drives and still does well on longer trips. Luckily on the SR you can enable the back seat heaters. The sound system can't be upgraded, but it's still very good.

I remember someone did the math and did multiple reviews using map calculators (i.e. A Better Route Planner) and found that the differences between the 2 (distance and charging wise) is not really significant. He had the SR+, so the route that was calculated for him were pretty much identical to what he did irl. Basically, the only reason you should go for the LR over the SR+ (as of 11/26/2020) is for the AWD, faster speed, better sound quality, year of premium, and if you can afford it in the first place... and at that point you might as well get the Performance model then.

Was that on a route with V3 superchargers? Using ABRP shows there is definitely a difference between the two, if it’s only occasional trips the SR does very well, but I’m considering an upgrade as I’m doing more frequent road trips now
