So EV manufacturers should just eat the cost of extra battery cells because you're stupid? That's just how electric cars work. @ArtIrwin3 жыл бұрын
This was informative. Thanks! I’m on the verge of ordering a Model 3, but I’m really on the fence about SR+ versus LR. My main concern is actual usable range on the SR+. What is your real world available range in the SR+ in the summer heat when you unplug in the morning and leave the house? By that I mean… assuming you don’t charge above 80-90% and don’t let it get below 10% or so (is that a safe assumption?), what is your usable range between those percentages? I ask because it seems like the Model Y has a real world range closer to 80% of the claimed range… and then when you set an 80% max charge limit, you’re at 80% of 80% which isn’t great if the same thing is true of a Model 3 SR+. Did that make sense? Thanks in advance.
@TeslaPhotographer3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Most of the time we end up charging our SR+ to around 90%. The sr should be able to handle most of your daily driving even at 80% as long as your in and around town. My brother drives about 15 miles each way to work plus another let’s say 25 miles evening driving and he seems to have good range after. But definitely needs to charge every night or close to it. You should be good as long as you’re not doing close to 150 miles per day of course take into account your charge limit and other outside conditions that may effect efficiency

I’m going to save now for my model 3 long range fsd Tesla since I’m 17 but I’ll be 18 in a couple months. Anyone how much do you recommend saving up for a loan down payment because I want to get one of these quickly but don’t screw myself with the payments?
@TeslaPhotographer4 жыл бұрын
It all depends on your income and credit. 20k down is a pretty solid amount but the payments are still high maybe around $650 USD thats just a guess though
@epiphany2714 жыл бұрын
You're not going to like this, but I think it's the only real responsible answer here: the last thing you should be doing right as you turn into an adult is put yourself in unnecessary debt. There's practically no good reason to go into 30-50k of debt for a luxury car like a Tesla right out of the gates. It's going to hinder your ability to do anything else in the next 4-6 years. If you are absolutely dead set (you shouldn't be), or have a lot more money than 99% of other 18 yr olds for some reason (in which case you should be putting that money towards a house or retirement) then I would say the absolute minimum down payment would be at least 25k. If you have some sort of inheritance, or you're actually a young business owner (which is unlikely since you're asking about financial advice in KZbin comments) then that would be the minimum: 25k. If you really want an electric car, consider a 2017-2019 Nissan Leaf. But one of the best things you could do is pay cash for an older Corolla or Civic and save your money for more important things.

I really wish LR RWD would be available again. While the SR+ is rated at 250 miles, you’ll struggle to hit that number at highway speed. The LR models have a pack that’s 50% larger than the SR model, but it’s only 15% more expensive and it will much more easily hit its range target.

I feel kind of lucky to have bought one of the last of the LR RWD cars Tesla made. Was great value for the range and full premium interior but I was also one of he last buyers to pay $1500 for the white paint! Although performance is great, I think I would pay the $4000 extra for the dual motor if I could go back to the time I bought it just for the extra kick and more even tire wear.
@CFG394 жыл бұрын
Lance Pompe what I find funny is the “full premium interior” vs. partial premium interior. There’s literally no difference that anyone can see. Tesla should have done something like included HomeLink, SiriusXM, ventilated seats, etc. on the “premium” interior. The few very minor differences are really software exclusions which is the dumbest thing ever in my book. I agree, the LR RWD was an awesome model for people that don’t care about the extra performance of AWD. A RWD car on snow tires can do pretty decent in winter too. We also paid $1500 for white on our LR AWD car in June 2019. I ordered a white Performance after white became free but there was a bottleneck in production of white cars. I was told it would be anywhere from 8-12 weeks to get the car instead of the 2 weeks I was told initially. I ended up settling for a black P but I had to pay $750 for black paint (I regret this immensely). The black paint sucks. I’ve got literally thousands of rock chips in my paint in just 12 months. It appears the black paint is so thin that there’s no way to avoid damage except a full PPF (I don’t have $3500 to throw at plastic paint protection film). The entire car will have to be repainted within the next 2-3 years. I’ve never owned a car with worse paint.
