I love this color. I sprayed it on my model 3 using halo efx so I have a high gloss finish. Seems like doesn't matter if it matte or glossy, the color is just sexy.

It sure is! And the reason i don't have a high gloss is because I used dip armor on top and the dip armor mid coat is pretty matte, satin at best. Glossy top coat isn't compatible with dip armor, unfortunately. Hoping they come up with a high gloss mid coat in the future. Would be curious to see your model 3! I really like this method of changing the color! Seems less of a headache than wrapping and probably more cost effective

It's SO much easier than wrapping, but it does take some practice. It's cheaper as well. I charge about half of the average wrapper, and about a third of the more expensive wrapper. And there's 0 chance it will peel off your clear coat when removed, unlike vinyl wrap. that's why i chose plastidip as a medium when i was deciding between the two when i got started

Thanks! I almost don't want to tell you because I had an awful experience with this company, but I'll tell you. Just know that I'd NEVER do business with this company again. They lied about stuff, have terrible customer service, exceeded lead time, the wheels have multiple blemishes in the from the factory, even though they claim part of the reason they take so long to build and cost so much is because of their QC process, and they were completely unapologetic and made excuses for every single issue. They're Forgestar F14 Ultra Deeps.

how many gallons of midcoat did you have to use?

2. midcoat is going to be the same as glossy top coat as far as amount used.

Thanks! I used 4 gallons PDS black, 2 gallons of mid coat, 25 grams of ZBR, and 3 quarts of dip armor.

You just do one thick layer of black ?

@@jpjp9192 No. It would be quite a feat to get 4 gallons down with just one coat! It was 6 or 7 coats of black, then 3 coats of the pearl and 2 coats of dip armor. You want to use all the plastidip that comes in your kit (though I order whole sale so I don't actually order kits), but as a general rule, I like to put down 8-10 coats for any dip job. For dip armor, you want to have a good 10 coats under the dip armor so the dip is strong enough to peel off without tearing off in little pieces. The dip armor makes it more difficult to peel

I talk about it in the post dip monologue around 5:00. pearls were mixed in dip armor midcoat since dip armor isn't compatible with glossy top coat

@@reviewkicks6935 No worries. Was just letting you know where you could see it. It's a lot more like regular paint than plastidip. Sprays a lot thinner, runs easier, and my god it is STICKY! My shoes were constantly sticking to the tarp and paper I had laid down and even the hose stuck to it at one point, and that's just from ambient dip armor, not even spills or anything. It does give a nice candy shell, so to speak, but it's definitely more work when it comes to clean up

@@reviewkicks6935 yeah i definitely prefer a high gloss finish. I'm hoping in the coming months they'll come up with a dip armor mid coat that's high gloss instead of satin. I've yet to have a customer that was interested in dip armor though, so it's not too big a deal right now

I love the color shift. Is there a way to make the red brighter?

A little. Had I used glossy top coat instead of dip armor, the gloss would bring out the red a little more. One could also use a higher concentration of the ZBR in the clear coat to make it more red, but that would take away from the black.
