Thanks for this. I was going absolutely crazy. I bought 2 bikes at the same time. One "normal" bike and one e-bike. Both came with a GX eagle set and I was going nuts, not understanding why I could only do single shifts on the e-bike, while I could grab a handful of gears with the other.... You made this clear. Makes sense though, e-bikes with crazy torque can absolutely mash your gears/chain if you are greedy with the down-shifts. One-by-one is not a bad things for them.

And yes ... it would be nice to have a "mode" button, like older Shimano front shifters had the 2/3 switch. And yes... that drove me crazy too when on my 3x I accidentally pushed it into 2x :O and had no clue the button existed :)

It probably feels more premium too with that aluminum cover. Although once the lever is installed, that really doesn't matter.

Just pulled the trigger on upgrading from my NX shifter. Already had the GX crankset due to damage on my old NX crankset, and also previously upgraded rear derailleur to X01 (actually ordered GX but accidentally got X01 delivered - poor me!), so I wanted the GX shifter for consistency. I don't know (and actually doubt) that the shifting will be significantly better compared to NX shifter... but I like the consistency because I am a nerd...

Hello, I just installed the GX Eagle (Lunar) shifter and when I compare it with GX Eagle (classic black) shifter on my other bike, it sounds and feels more spongy and kinda "cheaper" like a NX shifter. The "classic black" definitely feels crisper. Both bikes have the same new cable housings, cables, same GX Eagle 10-50 derailleurs and cassettes. Are the internals really identical?

I have a 12v lunar X01 shifter and an old 12v X01 exchange. My bike runs on the old 12v GX group. Is it worth putting the X01, selling the GX, or leaving it as it is and selling the X01? I really like the GX, nothing to complain about, even the days off you commented on in the video!!

@@LoveMTB i found garbaruk 10-52 is a bit less extreme: 10-12-14-16-18-21-24-28-32-37-44-52. I may try that cassete eventually. Its made in poland, and its machined, not stamped. I read good things about it. Ill let u know

I've purchased the E-MTB shifter without knowing the limitation of the single downshift. However I will be racing this weekend and will check if it makes a substantial impact on XC race. On the other hand I feel that this will be better for my drivetrain because I sometimes tend to overdo it when downshifting and I can hear my cassette screaming. Probably it's something that someone can get used to as always.

@@KumarJhuremalani I've actually ended up replacing the shifter to the multiple click. I've run into some issues in an earlier race where I needed to upshift rapidly in a trail and I've noticed that I wasn't as fast as before due to the shifting lag.

Ok, so the EMTB version only downshifts one at a time, the fact that you can’t adjust the lever sucks ass with it being in the forward position whereas there would be plenty space to sit back and the EMTB is not using that space. So really bad design. If you make it EMTB, make the lever adjustable SRAM.
