SRAM Red groupset, video gallery (part 1): Shifting, crank-side view of the front derailleur doing it's thing... then a close-up, slow-mo of the rear derailleur shifting the chain up and down the 12-speed cassette.
Released yesterday. And now available in selected bike shops around Australia.
Went to the pre-launch in Melbourne yesterday, had a short ride with a few others, including Nic Squillari of Velokicks (nice guy, cool shoes... loves to talk about cycling, bikes... cycling and bikes, bikes and cycling, and... well, other things but those are his pet topics (along with shoes).
So, here he is: riding. There I am, filming (but you can't see me).
We talked a lot, and so this 'in brief' clip comes with music instead of our background sounds.

Quick comment:
It’s Out There now: the new SRAM Red has been (officially) launched. It has been a long time coming and is one of the worst kept secrets in the bike trade but that doesn’t discount the reality of what this new groupset represents: first-class quality, great looks, terrific feel, better braking - with very cool modulation and far better leverage than before… and a whole host of other features that will be detailed soon on ridemedia.com.au
It’s a busy time at the moment, so before getting into more detail about the new SRAM groupset I’ll be presenting some clips and galleries of the various components taken in Melbourne yesterday.

PS. Yep, I got a chance to ride the new Red. And yep, it’s far better than before - actually, better than expected. A new standard has been set and this is, in my appraisal, the best groupset you can buy for a road bike. (Shimano has some serious catching up to do if the Dura-Ace groupset is expected to rival Red.)
PPS. Lots more to say but all in good time as I’m yet to edit the video overview filmed yesterday but there is plenty of detail still to come.
