I just installed the AXS T-type derailleur on my Eagle drivetrain. I used a new Eagle chain and I put a spacer in behind the cogs. I found it works great! What I had to mess with was the spacer sizing. I found that the shifting was off just enough that the microshift adjustment wasn't enough. It was a little laggy around gears 4-5, even at the #12 position of microshift. I ended up using a 1.5mm spacer and that seemed to work. I've ridden it a handful of times and found that while riding on the trail the shifting was better than on the stand or in the parking lot. So far, so good! I'll upgrade chain, cogset and chainring as they wear. Bike is 2023 Ibis Ripmo V2S.

The reason I did this, btw, was to use the old AXS Eagle derailleur on my mullet gravel bike. I upgraded the shifting for that setup, too. I am now fully AXS shifting on both mountain and gravel. No going back!

I'm still on X01 AXS and have been kicking around trying a T-type chain with it but am too chicken because of the roller size differences, but maybe I'll give it a go on Old Greenie with its Garbaruk cassette and chainring and see what happens.🤔

It's possible since the chain it's smaller in all dimensions but rollers. But that also means that the overall cassette is worn so your shift ramps. Narrower chain doesn't help much with that...

you could probably use the XDR hub body with the spacer and you would have plenty of engagement on the threads. Much like you would with a mullet setup on a gravel bike that uses the XDR hub and the 10-52 cassette. You have to run a spacer on that and it works perfectly.

The wheel will spin, the chain will stay on the cassette, yes. But similar to XD driver that Micro Spline was designed pretty tight there is no 2 mm slop in the assembly for the extra 2mm spacer

@ well. How is working on video is without modification but its on limit - no possibility to make micro adjustment. After I have modified end cup - I have grinding off 1.5mm what gave me nice window for adjustment. Since April everything works very well. I am using this Shimano XT cassette because I am using it with 7 chains. I am changing chain every 600km. Cassette have currently 5700km. All chains are still OK. After I will scrap XT cassette I will instal SRAM again.

Most of these are dumb, no benefit to running these combinations. But in an offhand 5 second comment you said the most important thing without knowing it; that unfortunately you can’t use a Transmission cassette with UDH. If you could then a X01 mechanical could be run with Transmission cassette and chain. The cassette/chain interface is what makes Transmission shift so well.

You can sand 2.5mm off the inside face of the UDH (from the portions that don't contact anything anyways). That creates enough clearance for the transmission small cog & chain. Just did this, works great!

Why? The T Type works so much better than AXS (XX1) shifting under load. Depends on your riding type - I, for instance fight day to day for XC KOM's.
