The new t-type X01 is now more like the last iteration of the GX than it is XX. Seems like they didn't want the X01 and XX to be similar anymore just to make sure anyone looking for weight savings HAVE to buy the XX.

Great comparison! One small correction regarding to the available spindle lengths: There is an XX SL non wide crankset. To achieve the 55 mm chainline it utilizes a 0 mm offset chainring.

A quick note on chainlines and the need to go to 56.5-57 mm to accomodate wide tires: I have an old frame which was designed at a time when we only had 9 speed drivetrains with sub-50 mm chainline, but it still can take a 3.0 inch tyre. And if you do the math, a 49 mm chainline results in 8.4 mm clearance between a 12 speed chain and a 3.0 inch tyre (a little less when using lower gears).

@@chrisrnz 165mm to 170mm probably not that significant of a difference. X01 used to weigh only 50 grams heavier than XX1 cranks. So 100+ is significant. Seems like X0/X01 got the biggest weight penalty of the new t-type change. In fact, the last gen GX is lighter than the new X0.

Many thanks for the information regarding chainline etc. Keep up your good work 👍 I don't run any SRAM cranks on my Eagle drivetrain, 'cause there's no offer for 172.5 mm cranks (as I use for Road and Gravel). So I went to the third party manufacturer Leonardi Racing who supports the DUB standard and both interfaces for the chainring (3-bolt and 8-bolt)! I don't get it, why SRAM is optimizing their drivetrains without any consideration of the crank lengths as that is usual by all parties in the Road sector. There's a need for 2.5mm steps, when efficiency through power transfer is proclaimed as one big thing. Several lengths in one crank could be achieved by inserts, similar to Look Three Lobe.

Do you think sram will provide T-Type Chainring for x01/xx1 cranksets ( With 3 bolts ) ? ( I allready have a X01 cranksets in 55m with my sparc rc, and even if you said it compatible with old chainring, it's probably better to use T-type chainring with t-type chain ? )

I do not know but I do not believe so, you’ll have to rely on 3rd parties more than happy to provide that. Companies like SRAM are forward looking they want to sell you the new kit/ crankset

Is it decided that you cannot use a T-type crankset with the old eagle axs derailleur/cassette? Due the the chainline? 52 vs 55? as there is not currently a +6mm offset chainring for the wider crank? Or will the eagle axs derailleur/cassette work fine with the 55mm chainline?

@@LoveMTB Thanks for the reply! I'm so confused..... Everyone says that "all ttype transmission cranks are "dub wide" hence a 3mm offset chain ring will accomplish a 55mm chainline.. correct? Well I just measured my ttype transmission cranks that are labeled "dub SL" and they measure 11.4 cm in length, which based on your video is the same as the old "dub regular" cranks which I would think would accomplish a 52mm chainline with the 3mm offset ring. Have you heard of this elusive "dub SL" ttype crank that isn't "wide"?

@@EvsRealEstate I believe they did that for a narrower Q-factor. I wouldn't sweat it as long as you install the BB with the proper spacers. I have this video about that - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmG7ZKGirLSid7M and also plan to use T-Type with 52 mm chainline cranks.
