Hello I have some discussion about 4-link brackets on housing as to Centerline of housing the bolt-holes being move forward or after meaning behind Centerline have you done any research on the physical load rap and what's your opinion on shorter bars in longer bars illustrating longer bars on the bottom shorter bars on the top but the key elements here is the offset of the top for Linc housing holes being Ford of Centerline

Great videos man, love the detailed breakdowns. I know you've seen Billy's S10 Rear setup. Can you explain why he uses 2inch lowering blocks? What exactly is that accomplishing? Is it equal to raising the front of the bar further up? Is there more to it than that? Thanks Love that your dad is working on the cars.

Thanks for the comment! The main reason is to lower the rear of the chassis to help with various things. It does influence the caltrac angle which helps with planting the slick, but the main reason is ride height adjustments. Nothing magic going on there. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!!

I noticed that the front end rise, most noticable on the Falcon but both appear to do it, is not a linear rate. The "initial" sees some rise with almost what appears to be a pause then resumes about a car length out. This could be power management settings, valving, rotation around the c/g or a combination. What do ya think Kev?

Turbo John has a good video on rear separation, most of which is slow motion on the drivers side tire and wheel well. He also makes a good point not to always trust the passenger side if you have some twist in the body or frame. This video of Boston George I watched on a small Cel phone and it was somewhat blurry and hard to see the seperation, front seperation was obvious but it was hard to see the rear seperation clearly. Enjoying these videos, thanks Kevin

@@KevinWilsonSBC yea it was hard to see on this little Cel phone, I thought I was seeing the actual rear end being drove down close to the pavement early on in the run but it was blurry I couldn’t tell for sure because later i couldn’t make out the axle housings on each side like maybe it was something else I was seeing, but I definitely saw daylight between something so it had to be some sep in the rear. But yeah I agree with you I was just pointing out it was hard to make out on a small screen. Kevin I really enjoy your videos and I appreciate you taking the time to go over this. There’s a lot I need to learn about the cage and certification, that’s a grey area for me as I’ve stayed mostly local on the street only concerned about keeping the chassis rigid but not so much safety, but the older you get the more worry about the safety aspect.

That was a good start. But why measure anything. What do you do with the measurements. Or did I miss something.
@KevinWilsonSBC
@KevinWilsonSBC 2 жыл бұрын
You need to understand where you shocks top out, if they top out before suspension bind. Also, on an A-Arm, you need to be careful to find the measurement where the ball joints begin to bind, which can stop your ability to safely steer the car. I should have said all that, my bad!! Great question! To keep steering from not binding you may need to limit the front end about a .5" before that point. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!!

No, you don't "have" to have one just like you don't have to run out and buy sliders. I personally tune two second gen Camaros (76 & 78), one big block NA, glass nose, doors, and trunk. It has caltracs, split monos, sliders, anti roll bar, and viking doubles. Second one small block, 300 shot nitrous, all steel, cal tracs, split monos, no anti roll, stock shackles, and viking doubles. Both cars run a mid 5 in the 1/8, leave flat, good separation. The double adjustable shocks made the most improvement on both.

@@KevinWilsonSBC With the knowledge you pass on that. That will be a bit easier when the time comes. Great explanations on how the shock is working thru the pass. Valving and travel play a big part. Some of what I,m noticing . Is some cross over from other formats. No Prep and street race cars are taking to some PreRunner tricks . Having more controlled and longer travel that does not disrupt the weight bias as easily.
