ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පළමු වනජීවී උමං මාර්ගය (Sri lanka First Wildlife Tunnel )

ගල්ගමුව සහ අඹන්පොල දුම්රිය ස්ථාන අතර පිහිටා ඇති ගඩදිවුල - කාසිකොටේ දුම්රිය මාර්ගයේ නිරන්තරයෙන් අලි තරණය කරන ස්ථානයක් ඇත.
වන අලි දුම්රියේ ගැටීමෙන් සිදුවන අනතුරු අවම කිරීම සඳහා පළමු වනජීවී උමං මාර්ගය දුම්රිය මාර්ගය යට ඉදි කෙරේ. ව්‍යාපෘතිය 2024.03.01 දින ගල්ගමුව - ගැටදිවුල - කාසිකෝටේ දී ආරම්භ කරන ලදී.
මහව - ඕමන්ත දුම්රිය ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ ව්‍යාපෘතිය යටතේ මෙම වනජීවී උමං මාර්ගය ඉදිකිරීමට නියමිතය. මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය සඳහා ඉන්දීය රජයේ ණය යටතේ මිලියන 65 ක් වෙන් කරන ලදී.
මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතියට අනුව අඩි 10ක් පළල වනජීවී උමං මාර්ගයක් ඉදිකිරීමට යෝජනා වූ අතර එය ජූලි මස 19 වැනි දින ඉදිකිරීමට තීරණය කර ඇත. නමුත් උමග ගොඩනැගීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් සමාජය තුළ සැකයක් පවතී.
ඒ අනුව මේ සඳහා ප්‍රතිපාදන සහ අවශ්‍ය අනුමැතිය ලැබී ඇති නමුත් ඉංජිනේරු සැලසුම අවසන් කර නොමැත.
වනජීවී උමග ඉදිකිරීම තවදුරටත් ප්‍රමාද වීම හේතුවෙන් යෝජිත ස්ථානයේ ඇති පැරණි බෝක්කුව ද්විත්ව කාර්ය බෝක්කුවක් බවට පත් කර අලි ඇතුන්ට ගමන් කළ හැකි උපරිම ප්‍රමාණය මීටර් 10ක් හෝ ඊට වැඩි වනජීවී උමං මාර්ගයක් ලෙස ඉදිකිරීමට තීරණය කර ඇත. .
දුම්රිය මාර්ගය විවෘත කිරීමට පෙර අදාළ වනජීවී උමං මාර්ගය අවසන් කළ යුතු බවට රජය තීරණය කර තිබේ.
ඒ අනුව වනජීවී උමං මාර්ගයේ ඉදිකිරීම් අගෝස්තු මස මුල් සතියේදී ආරම්භ කිරීමටත්, මහව-අනුරාධපුර දුම්රිය ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ ව්‍යාපෘතිය අවසන් කිරීමේදී වනජීවී උමං මාර්ගයේ ඉදිකිරීම් අවසන් කිරීමටත් සැලසුම් කර ඇත.

There is a constantly elephant crossing place in the railway line in Gadadivula-Kasikote which is located between Galgamuwa and Ambanpola railway stations.
The construction of the first wildlife tunnel will be built under the railway line to reduce the accidents caused by wild elephants being hit by trains. The project was started on 01.03.2024 in Galgamuwa-Gatadivula-Kasikote.
This wildlife tunnel is to be constructed under the the Mahawa-Omanthe railway reconstruction project. This project allocatted 65 million under the Indian government loan.
According to this project proposed to construction 10ft wide wildlife tunnel and decided to constructed on 19th of July. But there is a doubt in the society regarding the mention construction.
Accordingly, the funds and necessary approvals have been received for this but the engineering design has not completed.
Due to the further delay in the construction of the wildlife tunnel, it has been decided to convert the old culvert at the proposed site into a dual-purpose culvert and construct it as a wildlife tunnel with maximum size 10m or more for elephants to pass through.
Government has been decided that the relevant wildlife tunnel needs to be completed before the opening of the railway line.
Accordingly, it is planned to start the construction of the wildlife tunnel in the first week of August, and to complete the construction of the wildlife tunnel when the completing the Mahaho-Anuradhapura railway reconstruction project.
