Hi dude, Sri Lankan in Canada ... been here since 1998. You have a infectious and blissful way of presenting like no other ... I was laughing with my daughter, proud of my motherland and felt a kinship to you all at the same time. Loved your joy as you walk through a World Heritage City. As you can see folks below have corrected some minor slips: (jack fruit not Durian) and that tree in the Gall fort is way more than a 100 years old ; ), Independence from Britain was in 1946 (India in 1945). The lighting of a oil lamp in a Hindu or Buddhist shrine isn't about the offering of a flame rather the symbolism of light cutting through the darkness and this personification of knowledge vanquishing ignorance. When eating rice and curry (while there is no right and wrong way) you could first try mixing each curry with the rice, then up the combo and experiment to find your perfect mouthful of rice, where as if you mixed everything together right out of the gate you don't have much of an option. Having said that how you enjoy rice and curry is as subjective as the shape of a wave breaking on those rocks. I wish you had had many more dishes but looks like you got a lot at a grassroots level. I hope you got to pick a coconut and drink the juice as you planned. There is nothing like it to hydrate you ... fun fact the water in it's naturally purified state is a super electrolyte concoction that was used during WW2 as a substitute for saline during medical procedures in the jungle by medics. Remember to always come back .... I (and am sure my fellow Sri Lankan's will agree) bestow upon you an Honorary Sri Lankan Citizenship for eating and loving that mango (with chilli and salt powder). Boom Baby there you go ...LOL.... if you accept it and promise to return (maybe with a significant other even ; ) I will send you your Sri Lankan name !!!! God bless and safe travels!!!!
