Can anyone explain about the caste and other things of sinhalese wedding
@EyalNahum20046 ай бұрын
caste became fade away from Sinhalese culture after the influence of Buddhism. It's not evident anymore.And even most of us don't know about our caste.Because most common surnames among sinhalese are Fernando,Perera,Dias,De silva and peres.(mixing with westerners or adopted from them, like some latin american countries did)

to non Sri lankan audience, this is a 95% percent traditional Sri Lankan Buddhist wedding mixed with some modern concepts like DJ . many middle class and rich sri lankan Sinhalese get their weddings like this. even poor peoples want to get this type weddings and some of them even get bank loan for this type wedding celebrations. as for Buddhist tradition first couple go to Buddhist temple to get blessings and then they go to wedding hall /hotel. the reason in the end they change traditional outfit to modern gown and western suit because of that traditional outfits are so heavy and hard to wearing long time. couples wear these traditional outfits early morning. some of them start dressing at 4.00 0r 5.00am. so it's really hard to deal with this traditional draess in full day. By noon all cultural rituals are over and then couple change into light clothes after lunch.😊

Like south indian wedding , groom gives red colour saree to bride. Groom wear a "thalla" or wedding neckless to bride's neck like south indian "Thali ritual " kapurala or ritual man prays for 33 million gods and 27 nakshatras to bless the couple. Those are main similarities 😃

Don't be so rude, Tamil extremists always criticise badly others, don't have basic ethics. Generation of Kandiyan Royal families dress like this during wedding. If you don't like stay away.
