Srinagar to LEH 12.5 Hours Journey by JKSRTC Bus 🚌 | Ladakh Part 3

Day 3 of my Journey to Ladakh started from Srinagar TRC Bus Stand from where I took the JKSRTC Bus. It was a scenic 12.5 hours journey from Srinagar to Leh where I saw start of Amarnath Ji Yatra, the famous towns of Kargil and Drass and also the mighty passes of ZojiLa, NamkiLa and FotuLa.
The landscape change from green to barren was magnificent and could be seen when crossing Kargil.

Hello, I will reach Srinagar on the afternoon of July 27 and want to take the Srinagar to Leh bus on the morning of July 28. Can I buy tickets in the evening on July 27? Will the July 28 bus reach Leh during the day or stop overnight at Kargil?

Yes tickets can be bought 1 day prior. If the weather and road conditions are good then bus can reach same day or else it will take an overnight halt.

Hello .. We are planning for first week of june. What are the timings and duration of bus or shared traveller from jammu to Srinagar and Srinagar to leh. Can you please help us out.

Hi, There are regular buses from Jammu to Srinagar. However, Srinagar to Leh route opening date depends on clearing of snow near zojila pass. So please check before finalising the trip. If the route is open by then, the bus starts from Srinagar at 7am and reaches Kargil by evening and after overnight stop, it starts again in the morning and reaches leh by evening making it a 2 day journey. Hope this helps.

Overnight stay in Kargil is required when the roads are blocked due to snow, landslides etc. Otherwise as you saw the video it's a 12 hour journey.

Yes you can board the bus from Kargil to Leh. Many people do that.

It took me 12.5 hours. The temperature was pleasant.. maybe about 15-20 degrees in August September.

I visited in Aug end and early September. Peak time is June to August but specially on weekends.

Check for the weather before you plan. If it rains, there's a chance of landslides. Otherwise the road condition is great as you can see in the vlog too. Happy journey!

If the route is blocked due to snow/landslide then the buses stop the service. I suggest you can enquire from any hotel in Leh if the bus route is open.
