What I love about this guy is how there's never even a hint of snobbery to him. He doesn't care what the vehicle is as long as it has two wheels or sometimes even three. He sees the purpose is every single one of them. Him and MissendenFlyer are the best motorcycle reviewers on youtube.

The stuff of legend these Cubs. Back in the 70s every house in Ireland had a few Honda 50s. Affordable motoring, that's what we could afford. Times have changed now most homes have 2 Audis or something similar. The Nifty Fifty, a rare sight on the roads now.

PCP has made people buy much more expensive cars than they could otherwise afford, very few cars would be new today with the cost of living and tax. PCP makes People ignore the big balloon at the end and when faced with it they just take out another PCP for another 3 years and on and on they go forever in debt. Commutes today are long and People want cars for comfort. Gone are the days of good paying local work especially in rural areas and with motorways people want to do that in comfort and speed.

The only bad thing about the new Cub, is that bloody awful, bright red single seat, you could get 3 people on an old one. In the UK the best engine choice was the C90. They were immortal, and even once they were taken off the road, the kids were running around the fields on them, jumping ditches and running through hedges. In the 60-80's nearly all the kids learnt how to ride on them. If the engine blew, you knew where another one was, you could do an engine swap in an afternoon. If you bounced into a tree, or finally managed to break the pressed steel frame, take off the engine and wheels, Someone will be wanting them soon enough.

The blue/light blue/red seat color scheme and single seat were what they had on the first Super Cubs in 1958. Honda has always considered the Super Cub and its variants to be a single-rider bike, even though they equipped them with longer seats and footpegs for passengers.

I remember these as honda 50 here in Jamaica as a little boy they were very strong a lot of owners were farmers and business operators, that used to load them like a little pickup truck and they wouldn't break down , one farmer had his farm a couple miles up the hill and that bike would run both ways loaded and never failed , I remember the c50 c90 s90 z90 and then the cb 100 .

You have to hunker down behind the speedo to cut the wind resistance to get to sixty! That much I remember with the c90’s (it also helps to round up the speed to the next number - the benefits of a speed dial over an lcd speed indicator 🤣)

My Helix does fine on the highway; just stays in the right lane unless some car is really slow. No problem since I stick to the inner or outer lane to ensure I can prevent anyone from driving parallel to me. 60-68 depending on uphills and wind. No wind max of 71, so highways are do-able.

Tons of fun to ride though! Just unbelievable! I will say this: wear your gear. If you are going 50-60mph on anything, you are going to hurt yourself if you go down.

I don't know what they called it in the mid-60s, but my dad had a 150cc version with a fairing like that. Only had it for a couple of months until he went up to a 350 cc bike. He spent his youth on an old Indian with a suicide shift in the late 30s and early forties. Was even driving years before he got his license because he was a military messenger for the Navy in Bayonne. They actually hired bikers to run their messages, they didn't care who you were or how old you were! Just how patriotic you were! At 16 he forged his birth certificate and by the time he was 18 he was sitting in the tail gun of a B-17! So seeing that bike again was a pleasure, thank you!

I recently purchased the 2022 model (I know all about the 'not another black motorcycle' thing, but I loved it), took me a month to track one down. One dealer down in Detroit was hording them in all of Michigan (that's my story, at least). Bought it in February because I didn't want to miss it (it was 2023) and had to wait until near April to actually take it out. I highly, HIGHLY recommend getting a windshield. PUIG makes a couple different styles (I went with the urban because it's a bit taller) and are super easy to install. There are others you can get too, but that was the best price vs. quality. The lens is super clear and doesn't warp your vision. I have noticed that it gets a bit faster when you hit 40-ish because you're deflecting the wind around you. It can and will do 60, it takes a bit when you get to 50 to break out of that speed, but it'll do it and I'm pretty sure I could have pushed almost 65. I had just a little bit of throttle left when I hit 60.

My younger brother swore by C90's back in the 1980's, he had several in succession, picked them up for £100-200, he could always commute to a jobs anywhere in a 20- 30 mile radius. I used to borrow them occasionally. They seemed to be practically indestructible, most of them had probably never had the engine oil changed (or even topped up!) in years.

I remember when this bike came out originally, and it was super fun and was considered the perfect bike to take to college campuses across the USA. Durable and long lasting like all Hondas, perfect for people not ready to have a full blown motorcycle. One might call it a "beginners" motorcycle. I went off to college in 1971, and should have gotten one. Instead, I caught the bug in 1985, when Honda was rolling out their Elite line of scooters. I bought the 1985 Honda Elite 150cc. I drove the hell out if for next 33 years. I drove it every day to work, weather permitting,....( I'm in Ohio). I housed it in a rented, heated warehouse, during our nearly 6 months of winter. Ya still need a (back up) car,...but the rest of the time, it was scooter fun all the time.

I have driven and owned lots of different bikes in my life time I am over 60 now and bought a Honda NC750X which I think is the modern reincarnation of my little Honda C70 club, it is very easy to ride comfortable automatic and I get over 80mpg all day long.
