I bought my Monster zx6r in 2010 and have put 85,000 miles on her and ride her every day as a part time commuter and for fun days. Got to be smart and defensive at all times as I took a riding safety class for it. The bike is still bad ass as I had a Two Brothers carbon exhaust installed with Power Commander. Change oil every three thousand and have had valve adjustments and run only Chevron fuel. I hope I can make it to 100,000 and beyond before any thing major happens. It's been one hell of a ride for the past 10 years.

Bought this exact bike brand new as a 21 year old. Show price was 6400. I thought it was a great price. Stock exhaust with the variable back pressure valve was nice. It was quiet in town and woke up nicely when you cracked it open. I believe redline was 16750. It pulled to 87mph in 1st gear. Top for me was around 160. Ended up selling it before I killed myself. I know it’s only a 600 but was way more than enough power for me.

I just bought my 2009 Zx6r Monster Edition about 2 months ago and this is my dream bike and have been because of Monster Energy having a sentimental value before my brother passed away. And there’s not many of these bikes around that are in great condition like mine and low miles for a 2009. Mine has 11,647 on the Odometer all the other ones I found were like 20k or more miles which is cool those are being ridden like they were designed to do, but ima keep it in best shape as possible and it’s my gem. Ima buy another bike to beat the piss out of on the track and wheelies and such. I won’t beat this bike too much because I don’t want to hurt it or destroy it. I just put a bunch of money into it too. Like I got a Translogic QS, ASV levers, Puig Green Windscreen, LED kit, Lightech Axle Adjusters, tank protectors, engine case covers. About to buy an M4 slip on because the 2 bros on it now is old and paint and baffling is getting old. I just need to find that monster edition rear cowl since mine came with a seat instead 😥😥

8:15 it's crazy to think a normal, experienced rider could hit that corner at 75.. but if you watch Isle of man TT those guys hit corners sharper than that at like 140. Just makes you think about how good those dudes are at controlling bikes with this much power and the 1000cc's.
@Markycarandbikestuff4 жыл бұрын
Get what you mean but the Isle of man is a closed circuit, big difference between that and a normal road, pot holes, gravel, road kill, traffic, tractors, broken down car etc can all be round the corner, not saying the TT guys are not good, they have balls of steel and loads of skill but it helps knowing the raod surface is good and has been checked and cleared.

I'm also 6 ft but a lil over 200 lbs and I can flat foot it no problem. Weight does matter
@markheimiller20827 жыл бұрын
I'm 6' tall, 135 lbs., and I can easily flat foot on my 2009 ZX6R Monster Energy Edition.... I'm not trying to be an asshole or anything at all with this comment, I'm just posting to share my personal experience with this exact same year and model bike so anyone who is wondering can get the proper information, because I read the other responses, and I really don't believe Isaac Wildsmith's post in my honest opinion... I think he is either lying about his height or just doesn't even known his real height... I'm not sure, but its well known through scientific studies that guys lie about their height ALL THE TIME and add a few inches that really don't exist and it seems like that is the case with his post, and here is why: 1. I have a 2009 ZX6R Monster Energy Edition, the exact same bike as shown in the video, and mine has 100% Stock/OEM Specification parts as far as anything that would have an impact on the ride height of the bike. So the ride height has not been changed at all on my bike from how it came from the factory... 2. I come to 6'0'' tall with my shoes on but no helmet of course, and I weigh 142 with all my gear + helmet when I measured and weighed myself just now. Then I ran straight out to the garage and I can easily put both of my feet completely flat on the ground without even totally extending my legs, so I could easily flat foot with my knees slightly bent. If anyone is thinking of getting a Kawasaki 600cc and is trying to figure out which review is telling the truth, but do not believe me, then just reply and we can exchange information and I can text/email you a picture of me sitting on the bike with my feet flat on the ground for proof and then me standing next to a measuring scale for height also. On my 2008 Ninja and on the 2009 Ninja that I own now, and on any other Japanese 600cc bike I've ridden for that matter, I am able to come to a stop and put my feet completely flat on the ground and still have my knees a bit bent to be safe. Also you can always get lowering links for the front and back, they will allow you to lower the ride height 1"-2", and you can do this upgrade to the ride height for very cheap, especially if you are capable of doing the work yourself, its not very difficult at all if you are used to working on cars/bikes... When I installed lowering links last it was a few years back, so they might even have lowering link kits available now that are capable of going lower than 2", but last time I looked for parts online a 2" drop was the lowest I could find for lowering links that fit 600cc models... Keep in mind though to never risk buying cheap knock-off brand or lower quality/dependability parts while trying to save $$ when it comes to lowering links, since it has to do with the suspension you do not want to have some shitty parts break while going over a bump at 100+mph or something along those lines.... Also like he says in the video, the 2009 ZX6R is wayyyy too fast to be safe starter bike, and it will also make it much harder to learn and a much slower process of learning how to actually ride a bike properly if you are learning on a bike that you aren't comfortable with because it has more power than you know how to even use. Starting on something like a Kawasaki 250 or 300 is perfect for a first bike, and will allow you to learn much better and more quickly than starting on a 600/1000 if you aren't already an experienced rider and been riding for a long time. The only way someone should be starting out on a 600cc bike is if they have been riding dirtbikes their whole life or for at least long enough to be a skilled rider... Starting on a bike too big and too powerful will totally slow down and impact the learning process and ability to get better at skills like knowing your limits/breaking points/ trail-braking/ how to navigate the lines of a turn going into the turn, through the apex, and out of the turn, how to roll the throttle on smoothly coming out of the apex, etc.... There are so many skills that you won't ever even begin to learn or even comprehend if you aren't comfortable with the bike you are riding.... Honestly, most everyone I've ever known or heard of starting out on a newer 600 has wrecked and seriously injured themselves or even kill themselves because it is too much power to handle, and WAY more power than anyone could ever possibly use starting out.

Isaac Wildsmith the most important part is seam size. My seam size is 34, the bike has a seat height of 32 I believe, so flat footing it isn't hard for me and I'm 5'10"

Have you ever had experience on a dirt bike or a cruiser? If not, I would stay very clear of the supersports. Not impossible, but very dangerous and very costly to learn on. All motorcycles are a blast to ride around on, so it might be beneficial to learn on either a smaller sport bike or even a smaller naked bike/cruiser. Hell, even a smaller dirt bike turned supermoto would be great, plus supermoto and cruiser would be so easy to learn on.
