I bought a 2005 C50T about 5 years ago as a starter bike thinking I would have it a couple of years and then move up - but I haven't because I love this bike. Never a problem with it and with a Mustang seat and Cobra pipes - it is awesome. I have ridden on backroads and highways and it does great. Yeah I wish it had ABS brakes and cruise control, but for $4,000 that I paid for it and only 7,500 miles - it was a bargain. Looks like a mini Road King and I get a lot of compliments on it. ABS is going to prevent you from stopping your bike faster. You should practice quick stops and where the pressure points are before locking brakes up rather than rely on a shitty crutch to save your life. This was the most drilled skill in my motorcycle class through Harley, they do NOT like bikes with ABS and they show you why. We spent more time with quick stopping than anything, and had us try practicing it on every exercise we were doing to get the feel for it.

ABS can stop more quickly and safely on roads with marginal traction. On clean dry roads in controlled conditions, a skillful (You have to be skillful and many riders are not) rider can stop a bit quicker than ABS. You need to understand human physiology. If you are on your bike and a dog darts unexpectedly in front of you. YOU WILL GET AN ADRENALINE DUMP. When you do, you WILL lose fine motor control. No one is immune. Not even you. This is same reason expert marksmen at the shooting range can't hit the ground with their hat when shots are coming back at them. So no matter what the road conditions or your skill level, you will NOT be able to modulate the brakes with the finesse to get the best stop in that situation. Period. Practice will help in more normal circumstances, but in a panic stop, adrenaline WILL make your skillful right hand into a hamfisted mitt. ABS will save your ass, Sport. Been riding 40 years and ABS on bikes is the best thing since disc brakes.

Those are probably some of the most comfortable, affordable, most dependable bikes out there. The 805cc motor is more than capable even with passenger, and will absolutely run interstate speeds without concerns of shortstroking...the volusias and C50's appear and ride much bigger than they actually are while not having a heft of a bulkier machine, best all around cruiser that Suzy makes imo.

Getting back in the saddle after a looooooooong time and your vids helped me make my choice for this bike. However, I actually found a deal on one but it's the C50T....being a bigger guy at 6'3", 290. I'm older now and not doing the stupid stuff like I was in my younger years on crotch rockets. Over the years I've owned a variety of bikes. My first one was a Honda CB 250. I loved it! I've owned a Yamaha XV1100 that I also loved riding and clocked up 165000kms on before trading for a Kawasaki Voyager 1700. I also own a Suzuki Burgman AN 650 scooter. In my view you should ride the bike you like, the one you can afford and the one that suits the riding you do. I've never cared too much about how fast the bike can go I care more about comfort and making sure there is enough torque to take me up steep hills. I ride a cruiser because as an older rider they are more comfortable for the long day riding that I like to do. I'm retired but when I get out on the road I like to ride for a long time and a long distance. The 800 might be all you need but I would like to see a screen to keep the wind off the chest and arms. Remember, it is the ride not the destination that is important, it is the open road with friends or enjoying the scenery the scenery that is important not how fast you are going or how quickly you go there. Ride safely and enjoy the ride.

I owned one of these bikes for a few years and this bike was completely trouble free I rode it everywhere and all the time. My wife had a Burgman 650. Then I rode my brother in law Suzuki M-109 after that there was no way I could return back to my bike I was like HOLY COW!!! the C-50 suddenly felt like I was dragging around an anchor. I sold it to my sister who upgraded from a 250 it was right for her. Now I got a '99 Valkyrie which is more in line with the M-109's power, after 7 years I still have and love the Valkyrie. My sister knee problems forced her to sell the C-50 but she owned it for a year or so, my wife also sold her Burgman and my brother in law sold his M-109. I'm the only rider in the family but I also had the most riding experience something like 40+ years they were all beginners. If I hadn't rode that M-109 I still might be riding that C-50.

I had a C50T and absolutely loved it. My only gripe was the lack of a 6th gear. At highway speeds, it tends to wind up a bit higher than I like for long cruises.

Thank you for your video; I really enjoyed your commentary. I came across a 2007 C50T this evening on Craigslist and fell in love with the look of it and started researching and came across your video. At 57, I'm not really a rider. but I think I would like to be and I think this could be a good bike for me. About 10 yrs ago, my husband, who has been riding almost since he came out of the womb, had a Yamaha R6 and taught me how to ride. Not the R6, but a little Honda CBR 250RR which, at 5'2" on a good day, I had to lower just to be able to learn to ride it. I 'learned' but it just didn't seem like my 'thing' so I gave up and sold the bike. We did have a Kawasaki Vulcan also which I enjoyed being the passenger on. I was afraid to learn to ride it. In 2016, my husband broke his back (not motorcycle related), and we didn't think he would be able to ride again, so we sold the R6 and Vulcan. After 7 years without a bike, we bought a 2017 HD Road King, and now I've got the bug to learn to ride a cruiser...hence looking at the C50T. I plan to take the motorcycle riding class through HD so I can learn to ride properly and hope to stick with it. I really did not want to have to start low and work my way into something else. This bike looks and sounds like something that would make a great bike I can learn on and stay with and not have to move on to something else because I've outgrown it. Also, I think I can still hang with the Harley's without looking like a wannabe. So, all of that just to say thank you for your video. I'll let you know how it pans out. I bought a C50T in April 2017 (my first bike) and thought it would be just a starter bike only for that summer. I'm going into the third riding season now and love the Boulevard. I do a lot of trips in the mountains and it pulls the hills with no problems. I can't justify the upgrade to another bike just to have bragging rights on CCs, so I'll stick with the C50T. Cruise control would be nice, but the throttle lock I have fills the need good enough. Ride safe.

Smaller V-Twins will "usually" be Screaming above 65mph.....so be Aware. The only advantage is, they have useable power mostly till Redline....so you still got Plenty of power to blast up to 85mph to Pass someone. In comparison, Larger Twins will Cruise and practically IDLE down the highway.....which is Much more relaxing....and power is Directly on tap.....but the Negative is, you typically ONLY have Torque, and a little Mid range....and then your power Drops off....and you crawl to Top Speed or Redline. This only applies to Straight cruisers.....Not V-Rods, VTX1800, M90's, or Vmax or other MUSCLE Cruisers.

I own a c50t. My first motorcycle. It was really easy getting comfortable on it. I get compliments on it all the time. Also came with vance n hines pipes. Took out the baffles and it pretty loud. Drone on the highway isnt bad at all. Love the bike and highly recommend it.

Bought my dad a 2012 c50 fully dressed in 2019, love this bike. Shaft drive + fuel injection, virtually no maintenance needed. Just enjoy this bike is all you need to.

I just today put a new clutch in my C50 as I close in on 71k miles. It was my "re-entry" bike 13 years ago, and I've never wanted to get rid of it, even though I have picked up two HDs in the intervening years. As he says, it is light to the touch compared to the heavier cruisers and a joy to ride. One caveat: it actually sits lower than either my Road King or my Low RIder and will drag the footboards pretty easily. Once you learn its limits though, no problem.

I was riding a K9 C800 since 2009 till 2020 (when I had to sell it), this year (2023) I bought a 2003 Volusia - and I have zero complaints about / issues with either. From CCC bikes, I also have / had / tried the M800 (an ex-colleague had it back in 2010's), Suzuki Savage (LS650P), Intruder VS800 & VS1400 and Yamaha Dragstar XVS 650. And not to forget, this year I finally had a longer ride on friend's Kawasaki VN900 Classic. Yeah, the C800 is definitely the bike of my choice of all these, though I am considering buying a VL1500LC with the next season. Just for the comfort on some of the longer trips my GF and I take every year. The M800 is tech-wise the same (the motor, the transmission, etc..) - the biggest differences are the footpegs (vs floor-boards on C800), different handlebars (more T-like), no selected gear indicator in the panel and smaller / different fenders. All in all - ride hard, ride safe - and have fun doing it.

I picked 2006 Blvd up April 2020, I love it! I put drag bars, LED strip lights on forks and rear frame for my marker lights and blinkers (removed stockblinkers) also changed out front and rear fenders getting rid of rear seat (has a Fat bot look)

Bought my 2003 Suzuki Intruder Volusia 800 back in 2017 for $3000 with 12k miles. Has all the extra goodies also. Saddle bags, windshield, sissy bar, mustang aftermarket seat which is really comfortable. Bike has been perfect so far. Just recently removed the windshield and I love it without it. Exhaust has the baffles taken out and it sounds amazing.

To add what you said about painted asphalt, when you're stopped at an intersection, try to avoid placing your feet on the paint. Your foot could slip and you could drop the bike.

750cc is more than enough. Some would argue 650 is more enough. Others would even say 500 is enough. Totally off topic, but Honda needs to bring back the Magna line. They have the powerful 800cc and 1200cc V4 engines in production in the VFR/Interceptor bikes. Modify the current Shadow chassis, and put those V4's in there. 800 is 116hp respectively, 1200 is 172hp. Once more, the Magna's would be the baddest, fastest, most sought after muscle bikes around.

for cruiser its more important if it start running out of gear shake and basically die on 75mph+on highway.Bigger displacement cruiser run lower RPM on higher speeds which is relaxing. My 750Nighhawk screams past 70 and it annoys me greatly when I still think there is another gear and I shift then realize futility of it then repeat next day.I just can't get over it.

Started my street bike riding on a 1980 Suzuki GSL 850 shaft drive. Loved it. Sold it when I went into the Navy. Bought an intruder 700 in I think 85, rode it from San Diego to just north of Cincinnati. Sold it in 1989 had a kid and stuff. This bike looks like what I will be looking for soon just need to get !y finances in better shape pre retirement. Looks like a good way to spend my golden years!

I really lucked out and got a C50 not knowing how great a bike it is. I knew I wanted shaft drive and water cooled. At 61 and 25 years since my last bike a 800 Shadow the C50 felt like a bus. Took some getting used to and after taking my girlfriend on rides feels light. Plenty of power for me, I like cruising country roads at about 40 to 45mph. But can run interstate if needed. Mine is a 2006 still less than 11k miles. The cruiser just doesn't age-like Dorean Grey.

I just picked up a 2004 model, carbureted version. Options installed: windshield, running boards, sissy bar with six pack rack. With just under 15,000 miles, for a couple thousand dollars. The last Suzuki I owned was back in the 1970s, good memories. A friend of mine owns a C50 and likes it. It's okay. Needs highway pegs. I'm 6' 4" and feel a little cramped, or maybe I'm just old. Spent most of today in the saddle, seat is lacking after a few hours. For the price I don't think I could not have done better.

I have a 2008 C50T I bought new. I'm 6'3 215 lbs. I've ridden bigger bikes but I'm quite happy with mine. If I did a lot of highway driving or road trips I would probably go for the 1500cc C-90. I never ride 2-up and the speed limit in my neck of the woods is 90kph. For the amount and type of riding I do plus the cheaper insurance makes it an easy choice for me.

Have a 2007 c50 since 2012 ..it is a very capable highway bike,..very stable in high wind..have all the bags ,windshield ,crash bars ..extra lighting etc ....all I have done is put gas & tires...lol....great bike!

I have a 2004 Volusia. I rode it from Reno to the Pacific ocean and down to Central California and back to Reno on a ten day bike trip. I did not have one single problem. She ran beautifully and took the mountains like they were flat. Love this bike.

I started out with an '01 Suzuki Volusia. Same bike, basically except older. Bags, windshield. My wife likes riding with me and we like touring so we had to upgrade to an '11 Kawi Vulcan Nomad. I loved it, really.

My friend is giving my his Suzuki Boulevard S50 800 that he got cheap. His first ride he laid it down on its side and did some minor damage. The left peg needs to be replaced, the clutch needs to be bent back and the rear left blinker needs to be fixed. I think it may need a battery too. My first bike was a Vulcan 500 years ago, and it was all I needed at the time and felt bigger than my buddies Shadow. Can't wait to get back on a bike for occasional cruises into the country roads/hills/mountains. Definitely not a commuter/daily. Wife isn't happy, but will work on that... she just hears all the horror stories of idiots in cars not paying attention. One thing I don't understand nowadays and I see it all the time and in this video. I can't understand taking your left hand off the bars so often or constantly. One rock, bump, or anything can be very bad. Thanks for the video!

I followed a similar path. Had a c50 but didn't like it on the highway. RPM's were way too high for my liking. Tried to upgrade with SRK cycles but never heard back. Their loss! I found a mint Yamaha XV1700 Warrior and NEVER have to worry about highway RPMs ever again.

An 800cc cruiser is plenty good enough unless you want to pull a trailer. I sometimes use my '99 Roadstar 1600 as a pickup truck, it's my only vehicle; I use it for everything. I've hauled a big refrigerator; sofa; lounge chair; 13' kayak; lots building materials; all kinds of stuff. Big V-twins are not much faster than 800s, if at all, but they've got lots more torque. On mine, I installed a smaller front pulley to give it even more torque and lessen the strain on the clutch for pulling stuff, but it does lower top speed, of course. If I didn't haul stuff, my 1600 would be overkill. 800s get better mileage, are easier to handle, and generally start easier in cold weather, not having to move those big cold pistons. And 800s are also easier to pick up if, heaven forbid, the bike should fall over. Mine has all the accessories and it's heavy. I once tipped over in some mud, and I couldn't pick it up. There was nobody around to help me.

My first bike was a Boulevard C50 and I've been riding her for 9 years with no trouble but changing the oil and battery (I wasn't performing good battery care). So comfortable and awesome to ride. Wound up here after trying to remember the right oil to put in x-D and I literally just said to my friend, "I love this bike, if I every get another one I think I'll still keep this one forever, maybe pass it on to our kids". I can attest that I had a 50cc Suzuki fourwheeler as a child in the 80s that I'm pretty sure still runs and one of my cousin's children is still bombing around it. They last!

For sure and so reliable. Electric fuel injection, liquid cooled with a fan when needed, 5 speed tranny, footboards, shaft drive, a comfty Cruiser for sure. I’ve owned three nice Harleys that I rode many miles on, a 1975 Sportster, 1983 Shovelhead FXRS and even a 1949 Panhead on a Gary Bang frame with the jockey shift. Do I still wish I had them all??? Absolutely as they were a blast to ride and would still take them out for a good putt, especially my old FXRS, another fine bike. However about 6 years ago I was ready to ride again after a long absence. Could not afford or find the Harley I wanted without going into some serious debt. Found a 2006 Suzuki VL800 C50T with the windshield and footboards, Mustang seat, saddlebags and Cobra pipes and got it for around $3800 with only 16,000 miles on it. I so enjoy this bike and it’s reliability plus with the twin engine I still have the thumpa thumpa thumpa which I love. I’m 74 and still riding. No complaints. Whatever it takes, Harley, Honda, Suzuki, if you want to ride find the bike that fits you and you can afford and get out there and ride free while we still have a free country. Plus, have a faith so the Man is watching over you while you ride!

I bought a 2002 suzuki marauder , I changed the rear sprocket from 48 to 42 tooth. ($25 on ebay ) It made a HUGE difference ! I still have a ton of low end torque, but it got rid of the buzz at 65 mph. And it now gets about 60 miles per gallon.............MINT !

The great thing abt 30 years out of the saddle is that you have no frame of reference anymore. If I rode something else, I might stop loving my C-50. But I haven't ridden anything else so...I'm good. But at the same time, I am still me. When I bought my first Challenger, I traded it in 18 months later for a 392 Challenger. Heck, I have owned this C-50, my first bike in 30 years, for about two weeks...and I am already on the Internet looking at Indian Chiefs. But that's just how I am. I am going to ride this at least a year, though, to make sure riding sticks within me and it doesn't become a rag rack in the garage, before spending any big money. But like you said, outside of my personality, there is no real reason to move into anything bigger.

Bought a S 40, lots of fun, but to small for 2 adults. Went to a S 50 great bike. Do mostly local 2 up riding, so of course going to a C 50 seemed to be the right thing to do. Wife liked the ride on the smaller s 50 as she wasn't sitting up as high catching so much wind. Now I have 3 bikes and like them all.

800cc is enough for me. Even 670cc which is what my Honda NC700X has. Like the C50 it's tuned for low-end torque. 50 HP max. At 70 mph it's spinning just 3,500 & feels relaxed until about 85 mph which is the speed limit in my state.

As a shorter rider (5'9") there are many bikes that are simply too tall for me. 30 odd years ago I learned to ride on a 78 Honda CB750 which was a monster of a bike for this short legged fella. (I literally had to slip sideways to get my foot on the ground at stops) Now that I am ready for a ride again, the Suzuki C50 C90 and the HD Sport Glide (107) appeal to me. I got back to owning bikes after 20 plus years. Bought a 2009 M50 Boulevard with 9k miles and put another 5K on it in 2 years. It is a good starter bike but now I need something bigger with ABS, a 6th gear and more power.

750cc 4cyl is more than enough on a sport bike, or sport touring bike.....................But a v-twin under 1100cc gets boring after a year or two. For starters a 800 v-twin is great, but you'll quickly grow tired of it and step up. Funny thing is my 04 Suzuki Katana 750 was cheaper on insurance than my 02 Kawasaki Vulcan 800. Meanwhile my Katana 750 will run circles around the kawi, more comfortable, bigger fuel tank (1 extra gallon) on almost double the range on the tank.

I've had my 07 C50 for a good 5+ years now, and I will say one thing that's for certain after all this time; while they are well-built bikes and very dependable, they are also not completely bulletproof. At about 30k miles the cam chain tensioners went out on my C50. The local bike shop I took it to costed about $1500 or so in parts and labor to replace the tensioners, and most of the cost was in labor because the tensioners themselves are such a pain to get to you pretty much have to tear the motor apart just to get to them, where as most bikes have an easy-access slot for them on the outside of the motor. even the shop owner told me about how the tensioners should not have gone out that soon. At the very least it should have lasted a good 60k miles before needing them replaced. But hopefully the old part was just a bad design and the aftermarket tensioners will hopefully last longer. Right now its at about 55k but she's still running strong. The only other issue i've had with my C50 is that ever since I moved from Oregon to Utah, it idles pretty rough on cold starts. Once it's been warmed up it'll idle and purr like a kitten though. All things considered I am definitely pleased with this bike and I would definitely buy another one again so long as it's been taken care of

I sold my harley last year. I was sick of the noise and bad handling of the harley and wanted a change. So I brought a second hand 08 C50T. It handles so much better than tge harley and what a fun bike to ride. For the first time in 20yrs I actually look forward to going for a ride on some nice twisty back roads. Great bike.

There is one area where a much bigger bike has an advantage, and that is touring. My 1700 Vulcan Nomad has way more HP/Tq than the C50, yes. but it is hugely more relaxed when cruising at around 75mph. That was something I noticed about the 750/800 cc class bikes is that they feel like they are working way harder for their engine size at highway speeds. Yes, the Shadow 750 I had could have gone 75mph all day long just fine, but it would be more wearing on the rider (that being me) That being said, I do miss the smaller bike for shorter (less than a hundred miles, just hitting the twisties on the back roads. But the V.A. says "one bike", so I chose the one that allows me to go down and up the eastern seaboard every summer comfortably.

It's good to hear that the C50 is a good bike because if for some reason you really wanted a boulevard instead of a Vulcan or Vstar it seems like the boulevard is the worst of the 3 about all the used bikes being the small one. You definitely see way more litre plus Vulcans and Vstars than c/m 90 or 109.

I recommend after market Bully Package which includes FI controller with K&N specfic for C50 air intake with filter... Increase acceleration throughout the rpm range so it is Much quicker and faster enough now I love the bike and stop complaining about quickness......

Just bought a c50 dressed like a c50t with 19k on it , the angry sewing machine noise. Needs valve adjustment and/or timing chains. Seems a common thing with these, so they let it go cheap. I'll fix her.😎

I never understand this thing of massive power and big cc bikes, I currently learning on a T-Max 500 and it's plenty of fast, the only reason I could think to have more power is to ride at well above legal speeds or to compensate for having a heavier bike like a cruiser or riding 2 up with luggage but I don't have the desire to ride around at high speeds. A few days ago I was riding at 50 mph and someone passed me on a sports bike doing around 90, the limit is 50 and the road is far from suitable for 90. Just about good enough for 50.

had a c50 (vl800 in uk) lowered suspension, V+H straight pipes, semi custom paint, mudguard changed and it was a beast - loads of torque good cruising speed that doesnt loose a licence, and holds the road well (avon venoms were on mine) - if you have the balls you will show up a few mid life crisis sportbike riders when it comes to corners aswell - definatly look into having it on a dyno and a rejet with a good set of pipes, i would have another one tommorow if i could

I cannot get mine started. It was a gift. It sat for 8 yrs. Drained and put good gas in it changed spark plugs new battery. Killed the battery trying to start it. It's been in storage for the winter. Any tips on what I should do next? Needs to go to the shop for factory recall , inspection in spring. I'd like to ride it there.

I bought one because the wife and kid hate the back of a sport bike so I got one for them to be comfortable on. It’s a great bike it’s big but not crazy heavy very comfortable great power fuel injected and has plenty enough power. I would recommend this bike to anyone that’s comfortable on bikes. Very nice bike mine came unbadged and people always think it’s a road king.

Contrary. The rear end on my c50 has kicked out on me in the wet before. I also hate mine on the highway. Not enough power for me to overtake on the highway at times if the driver decides to speed back up. It hits 5th at 65 which I feel is too low, so I really wish it came with a 6th

I nearly brought one, as a gift. Someone I know had one when I was considering getting a young relative a bike as a gift. He's pretty tall and big for his age and I read it sits bigger than comparable bikes. But I could never really get good info on if the size difference was really true (hadn't seen it "in person") and I'm more familiar with Hondas, so I found a 750 shadow ace instead.

I would seriously consider the Vulcan should my wife decide she wants to get into riding, she likes cruisers and the Vulcan is short person friendly and just looks like a ton of bike for the money. I'm more of a sport bike guy myself.

My very first motorbike was a 1500 cc VL Intruder (1999) when I lived in the UK. I did it that way as i knew that i would want to upgrade within 6 months to a bigger bike. I never regretted doing it that way and sold it to an ungrateful pig when i left in 2014.

Got my 09 c50 in January 2021 with 7000 miles on it I love this bike I now have 12000 miles on it olny problem I had about 3 weeks ago I noticed a raw fuel smell no leaks MPG WENT way down problem was the spark plugs 😀😄😅😉 bike has so so power now it like night and day
