You made it look simple. Got my timing belt kit done at 60k miles last year at a local shop. paid 6 hours labour. kept my stock engine mounts.

Yeah same here paid a shop because I wasn't confident about doing it and spent around 1200 dollars...

I would say if you're not confident in doing it or if you don't have the ability for your car to sit for a few days so you can take your time, Taking it to a shop was a good call. For me, Im probably over confident and if I ended up destroying my engine I would lose any sleep lol id just swap it with a new one.

lol man I havent even started the thing yet. I powder coated the intake manifold and thermostat housing (next video) so hopefully this weekend she be under her own power again. Im gonna text you some pictures later. Get your opinion.

A shop told me today my water pump is going out... My car has been through a lot and had coolsnt coming out of two lines by the oil filter place and i sent it to a shop anf they told me the water pump is foing out vut i dont hear screeching, see an active leak near the water pump but thet said its coming through a weep hole in it and i know whwt that is but how can you evem tell without removing the side of everything to see the water pump?

@@tannerlittle2606 it sounds like the oil cooler (which is the Finned thing the oil filter attaches to) might be leaking. A lot of people delete the oil cooler for that reason.

what was you using to clean the timing covers? Also @7:44 the marks were way off and then few seconds later they were on, what did you do to get them to line up properly?

So the reason the looked off at 7:44 is because of the valve springs. If you watch how quick the cam gears jumped that from the valve springs. If you slowly rotate the engine with a wrench (not a ratchet) you can get them to line up correctly

Did you have to remove the motor mounts to make room to work replace the belt and water pump, or could you do the belt/pump without removing the motor mounts? About to tackle this in my PT cruiser GT... water pump is going.

To the best of my memory, no you shouldn’t have to. However, most people recommend replacing the motor mounts and all timing components while you’re in there. That’s what I did so I couldn’t have to do it again. The motor mount does have to be disconnected from the engine but can stay in the frame rail. I disconnected both months and slid the motor and trans over to make room

Can you please help me. What are the torque specs for all the cam shaft gears, the water pump, the tensioner bolt, and all the bolts on the engine mounts? If there are torque spec for anything I didn't mention that is important can you please provide me with that too? I would so greatly appreciate it if you can help me get those specs, and regardless you earned yourself a new sub. Great video.
