インパクトだけはリズミカルでかっこいい。これが初めて聴いたダイターンBGMだったので、他のスパロボで聴いた時にのんびりしてて驚いた。

Impact and MX's soundtracks are pretty big departures from the usual for SRW. Most of the classic SRW series had different tracks used as their battle music, and of the songs that did return, many of those got amped the hell up, like Daitarn's theme. Plus, I don't recall either game ever using Detestable Visitors, which is the only track to appear in nearly every game. It might be, with the Alpha series ongoing at the same time, the Compact/Impact/MX games were made by a different team, much like how the games on Nintendo's handhelds are handled by a different team. So, a new sound team meant a new soundtrack. Though, it appears that Banpresto later did something to stifle that sort of experimentation, given how the more recent "B Team" games don't venture as far off the beaten path in that regard, and even the Z series doesn't go as nuts as Impact did with Daitarn's theme. Though, neither team ever saw fit to give the EVAs a decent track to fight to. Just Decisive Battle, every time they show up. And it's not like they couldn't afford Cruel Angel's Thesis, it was used as event BGM, multiple times!

Not sure what the case was with Impact, since it reused visual assets from AG, but I know that MX and the OGs series were developed by a different team than the other console SRW games, and that the Banpresto team behind them got some help from TOSE, a prolific outsourced development team that generally does uncredited work on titles. They're the same company that made Densetsu no Starfy for Nintendo, one of the few games where they were properly credited. tbf, MX gave the Eva team a very cool arrangement of "NERV" as an alternate battle theme. I think that if you set the BGM type to "Pilot" instead of "Unit" (or the other way around, I forget which is the default) in options, it'll play NERV for all of their attacks, whereas it's only used for their late-game add-on weapons otherwise.
