Is this command required on both nodes or just on the node0 : request system snapshot slice alternate ? Thanks!

Both nodes. The snapshot insulates against boot failure by creating a snapshot of Junos on a secondary partition of the device you run it on. These local snapshots are separate from clustering functions, and while a firewall cluster should be sufficiently resilient to weather a boot failure, the snapshot greatly simplifies recovery time. That said, I've never seen an SRX boot to the recovery partition. This is more common w/ access-layer switching, where power is typically less robust than what you find where your firewalls are installed. Cheers for the question!
